November Low-Buy Part 1 – Sephora VIB Sale

I’ve gotta be honest, I went a little ham on my purchases this month. In my own defense, a lot of my purchases were replacement items, so I don’t think I actually went over my low-buy budget, but I won’t know until I do all the math! I’ve split my low-buy into two parts as some of my purchases from Black Friday have not arrived yet. This post only consists of items I got during the Sephora VIB sale.

Although I posted my wish list a few weeks ago, I didn’t completely stick to it because I realized as I was shopping that I had forgotten to include on my list some replacement items and things I had been meaning to try. The Sephora sale was difficult for me because I made it a goal not to buy any eyeshadow palettes this year, I didn’t want to buy any lipsticks until I finished some in my stash (one-in-one-out), and Stashy challenged me not to buy any more highlighters this ear…so basically for me that translated to not being able to buy anything “fun” for the sale. Still, I managed to get a few exciting items that I’m looking forward to trying.

Laneige Hydration Trial Kit – Regular Price: $38, VIB Sale: $30.40

This Laneige trial kit was an item on my wish list – I bought it as I’m starting to run out of some of my skincare, and I’ve been itching to try Laneige for a while, so I thought this was a perfect opportunity to give the brand a go.

Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream – Regular Price: $57, VIB Sale: $45.60

I bought this to replace my beloved Kiehl’s Crème de Corps Body Butter. The Bum Bum Cream has gotten so much hype lately, and I’m not sure if it’s just because it smells amazing or because it’s a PR item, but regardless, I was still curious about how good it is. The Bum Bum Cream smells like tropical goodness, both sweet and a little nutty.

Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask – Regular Price: $77, VIB Sale: $61.60

I have been looking to change up my skincare routine, and one of the things I’ve been wanting to change is going from a physical exfoliator to a chemical one. I’ve been on the market for a BHA specifically because I have been having issues with uneven skin texture. My heart was set on Paula’s Choice, a brand which is pretty well known for their BHAs and AHAs. However, during the VIB sale, I was browsing the skincare section and the SA helping me raved about how miraculous it was on her skin, and her spiel totally sucked me into getting it. At $77 for 30mL, this is a crazy expensive product so I’ll definitely be doing a review on this in a month or two to let you know how well it worked on my skin.

Clarisonic Brush Head Replacements Twin-Pack – Regular Price: $49, VIB Sale: $39.20

I forgot this on my wish list, but it’s a staple in my basket every VIB sale. I always pick up a set of these brush heads every time the sale comes around, as the they need to be replaced every so often.

Kat Von D Tattoo Lock-It Concealer Crème – Regular Price: $34, VIB Sale: $27.20

I originally had the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer on my wishlist to replace my current tube, but when I got to Sephora, I decided last minute I wanted to try something different instead of going back to the same concealer over and over again. I’ve heard a lot of good things about this concealer, so I decided to try it. I used a swatch of the NARS tester in my shade (Custard) in stores to find a matching shade in the Kat Von D line, and it turned out to be in Medium 21 Neutral.

Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Rose Gold Retro – Regular Price: $31, VIB Sale: $24.80

So, I have kind of a long story about buying this. In mid-October, I started scouring the city for the Written in the Starts Glitter & Glow set which comes with three minis of the liquid Glitter & Glow shadows, but they were sold out everywhere I looked: all the Sephoras in the city, Sephora online, and the dozen Beauty Boutiques at Shoppers Drug Mart that I visited. I didn’t even bother putting it on my wish list because I couldn’t find it anywhere. While doing my browsing during the VIB sale, I finally resigned myself to getting a full size of one instead of the set.

Huda Beauty Lip Strobe in Angelic – Regular Price: $23, VIB Sale: $18.40

This was 100% a spontaneous purchase for me. I’ve really been wanting to try the Huda Beauty lip products, and I actually don’t own any glosses at the moment – it looks weird on me on its own, but I’m hoping it’ll be pretty as a topper.

Samples

The one bad thing about being a VIB instead of Rouge is that there are fewer samples to choose from by the time it’s the VIBs turn to shop. However, I am very excited to try the VERB Shampoo & Conditioner, as well as the Farmacy Honey potion (which I claimed for 250 points).

There’s my VIB haul! It was a lot bigger than I had anticipated…oops! I’m trying to make a better effort in following up all of my hauls with a review of the products, so stay tuned if you want to hear more about these items! What was your favourite thing that you picked up during the sale?

  1. The “replacement” justification is totally valid! Haha, no eye shadow palettes, no lipsticks, no highlighters… all the fun stuff! 😛

Everyone is still talking about that Bum Bum Cream! So pricey… please let me know if it’s worth it (I mean, Kiehl’s Crème de Corps is pricey too, who are we kidding)

I’m somewhat curious about the Tata Harper… but I kind of don’t think that price is warranted for 30ml only?! 😮

I hope the Kat Von D Tattoo Lock-It Concealer Crème is good! I’ve heard mixed reviews (people say it creases?)

Ha, did you read Rachel’s rave review on the Stila liquid eye shadows? The Rose Gold Retro was my favourite shade out of all the ones she showed! 😀

I love how this is just Part 1 of your Low Buy for November… hahahaaaa (I am in so much trouble when I post my accountability post for the month!)

    • Ugh, I replaced an expensive body lotion with an even more expensive body lotion. Brilliant idea, just brilliant 😛 I’ve only used the Bum Bum cream for two weeks but so far, I like the Creme de Corps better. Depends on what you’re looking for though, the Creme de Corps is a heavier lotion whereas I think the Bum Bum Cream is more versatile for the entire year for most people!

Re: Tata Harper – super pricey, right?! I came home and was like “wtf was I thinking??” haha.

Yes, I’ve heard mixed reviews about the Lock-It Concealer Creme too! The other one I wanted to try was the UD concealer, but as you very well know, that one also has mixed reviews 😛

Haha, I did see her post! I told her I was happy I ended up getting Rose Gold Retro in the full size since she loved it so much. I did something naughty regarding these shadows though, which you’ll see in Part 2… XD

Hahah, don’t you laugh at me when you’re in trouble too! Although it’s kind of funny when you think about it – “I’m on a low-buy for November but I had to split my purchases into two parts”. Whoops!

      • Good to know about the Bum Bum Cream – I was thinking of trying it. I have a $25 coupon off from Sephora if I spend $50 and I can’t find stuff to buy! What is wrong with me?

Oh no, that UD Concealer is NO GOOD. Ages the under eye area by 20 years! Plus is oxidizes…

I started drafting my accountability post and facepalmed… 😛

        • If you’re not using that coupon, I’ll use it for you 😂😂 kidding. I feel like that coupon is kind of useless sometimes, because we just did all of our shopping during the VIB sale, there’s usually nothing else you need by the time the coupon rolls around!

Yes, I remember how much you disliked the UD concealer, which is why I ultimately didn’t get it!

Hehe, I’m looking forward to seeing how you did. We can be low-buy fail buddies 😂

  2. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on some of these products! I’ve had good luck with Laneige products. Hopefully the ones in that kit work for you!
The Bum Bum cream is amazing and I can proudly say it is not a PR item for me (I don’t get any PR items lol). I just happened to purchase it and fall in love. At first it was the scent that got me but after daily use in the butt and thigh area, I noticed a difference in my *ahem* cellulite.
I’m super curious about the Tata Harper mask!
I picked up a new Clarisonic brush head in November during a Shoppers promotion otherwise I probably would have got one for the VIB sale too. I hate paying full price for them!

    • I think reading your posts definitely encouraged me to get both the Laneige AND the Bum Bum cream! Haha, wouldn’t it be nice to get the Bum Bum cream as PR? It’s expensive! Wow, I’m actually surprised you see a difference after using it, though!

I’ll definitely do a review on the Tata Harper mask once I’ve used it for a little bit longer 🙂

Oooh, great idea picking the brush heads up from Shoppers. I hate paying full price for them too!

      • I wish someone would send me the Bum Bum cream! 😂 And I definitely see a difference, especially when sitting down. I was honestly self conscience to wear shorts in the summer and this cream helped a lot with daily application.

  3. Great haul! You’re being so good not picking up any eyeshadow palettes, highlighters or lipsticks – it’s impressive.

I’m currently testing that Farmacy mask but I’m not sure how I feel about it. Have you tried it yet?

    Liked by 1 person

    • Haha thank you, but ugh, it’s been a serious struggle! I’m probably going to snap and buy like 10 eyeshadow palettes next year to make up for the fact that I couldn’t buy any this year, LOL.

I haven’t tried the Farmacy mask yet! Hmm I would be interested to know what you think of it once you finish the mask, since it gets rave reviews from a lot of people.
