Blogger Awards

Lately I’ve been tagged in a bunch of award posts, so today I’m copying Always Cleia, who lumped all of her awards into one giant post.

Since I’m doing so many of them all at once, I’m not writing questions for every award or tagging people individually for each award. I’ve tagged a bunch of people at the bottom, so if you’ve tagged (or even if you aren’t), feel free to answer all of these below using any of the 30 questions I’ve come up with, or none of them! Questions are at the very end.

This is probably the longest post I’ve ever written, and I found it very difficult to talk about myself, so grab a coffee or tea and sit tight!

THE SUNSHINE BLOGGER AWARD

For the Sunshine Blogger award, I was nominated by Hoi Yin Li. Please give her a follow if you don’t already, especially if you’re a skincare junkie!

Rules:

  1. Thank blogger(s) who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog.
  2. Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you.
  3. Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
  4. List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog
  1. Do you have any nicknames that your family and/or friends call you by instead?
I blog anonymously, so I can’t share my name, but I actually don’t have any nicknames!
  2. What’s the most recent song you listened to? I’ve been listening to JT’s new album!
  3. What do you normally order at the coffee shop? (It can be non-coffee if you don’t like coffee.)
I like to try new drinks all the time, but my usual suspects are a Dirty Chai (chai latte with a shot of espresso), Matcha Latte, or a London Fog, regardless of where I go for my coffee.
  4. What are you most looking forward to this year? 1) Trips! Either Japan or Australia with my husband, and then Hong Kong/Taiwan with my parents in November. 2) Getting out to the mountains more often – last year, we were so busy in the summer that that we didn’t go out there once. 3) My calligraphy business! Like I said before, I have a lot to learn and I have no idea if it’ll get anywhere, but I’m still excited for this new venture. 4) Making our house a home! We bought our house right before getting engaged, so a lot of our time and money went towards the wedding instead of decorating the house, and then after the wedding, we just never got back into it. We have all of the essential furniture, but I’m excited to make our home feel more “us” this year.
  5. What are your pet peeves?
I know I should be more patient, but I get annoyed by people who walk slow, or just randomly stop in the middle of walking without considering the traffic behind them. What is worse is a GROUP of people who walk slow but take up the whole sidewalk/hallway. Why do you do this to me?!
  6. Do you have a daily morning ritual before you officially start your day?
No interesting ritual, just a standard routine! Shower, put my face on, eat breakfast, brush my teeth, and then head off to work.
  7. Where is the further place that you have traveled to so far, and why?
The farthest in terms of flying time is probably Asia – I think it’s around a 13 hour flight to Hong Kong.
  8. If you can acquire the skill of any language fluently, what would it be?
I would love to be fluent in French! I took it all the way up until the last level in high school, but when you stop using a language, you pretty much lose it. I would love to be able to have a full conversation in French.
  9. Do you have any unpopular opinions? (i.e. an opinion that isn’t in agreement with a general population.)
Hmmm. I don’t like Marvel movies. I’m not interested in the ABH Renaissance Palette. I don’t understand the hype with Beyonce. I don’t mind the word “moist”. I don’t think guys with beards are attractive.
  10. Do you have a film that you really want to watch, but haven’t got round to watching yet?
So many! I watch way more TV than movies. I need to watch Baby Driver, The Greatest Showman, Murder on the Orient Express, to name a few – plus all of those movies that are nominated for the Academy Awards this year.
  11. What is your favourite quote? (It can be from a film/book/song/speech etc.)
“The trick is to enjoy life. Don’t wish away your days waiting for better ones ahead. “- Marjorie Pay Hinckley. I don’t know why the best quotes are from religious figures/people. This quote reminds me to live in the moment and to not just enjoy the end result, but also the journey.

THE LIEBSTER AWARD

I was nominated by Candice from Ccosmetic Chaos for this award. Please go read her blog if you have a chance. She also makes YouTube videos and I have really enjoyed watching them lately!

  • Acknowledge the person who nominated you and share their blog.
  • Share 11 facts about yourself.
  • Answer the 11 questions that you have been asked.
  • Nominate 11 more bloggers whose blogs you like.
  • Ask 11 questions that you would like those bloggers to answer.
  • Let the bloggers you have nominated know that they’ve been nominated.

11 Facts About Me:

  1. I love watching wedding videos for fun, even if I don’t know the couple
  2. I’m a bean counter by day (and a blogger by night?)
  3. One talent I really wish I possessed is artistic skills.
  4. After I watched The Ring when I was younger, I wouldn’t go near the TV for two weeks, and was also fearful every time the phone rang.
  5. I buy plants every spring, but I never managed to successfully keep one alive.
  6. My greatest weakness is terms of junk food is chips – I could probably eat a family-sized bag in one sitting!
  7. One of the items on my bucket list is to visit all of the Disney parks in the world.
  8. I didn’t learn English until I started kindergarten.
  9. I would like to have a corgi one day.
  10. I love rollercoasters, as long as they’re not jerky; the scarier, the better!
  11. I hate Oreo cookies but I love Oreo ice cream and Oreo cheesecake.

Candice’s Questions:

  1. Whats your favourite colour?
Can I say “pastel”? haha if I had to choose one, I would say pastel blue.
  2. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Somewhere warm where it doesn’t snow! I keep asking my husband if we can move to California…or Hawaii. Alternatively, I would also love to live in Europe, where we could easily travel from country to country for cheap.
  3. What is one of your most unpopular opinions?
Answered in a previous question up above!
  4. Name two guilty pleasures.
    1) Watching Pretty Little Liars. 2) Binge-eating Flaming Hot Cheetos 3) Listening to Backstreet Boys (I’m not even guilty about this one).
  5. What do you want to be if you grow up
“If” I grow up. I would have loved to be a wedding planner, but only if I didn’t have to deal with bridezillas!
  6. Favourite Quote?
Another repeat question so I’ll share another one: “Happiness comes when we stop complaining about the troubles we have and offer thanks for the troubles we don’t have.” -Thomas S. Monson. Again from another religious leader, but whatever. This one hits home for me because I complain about everything, all the time. For the last year, I’ve tried reframing my mind to be grateful for the things that I have and not to complain about the things I don’t have.
  7. What made you start blogging, and why the topic you blog about?
I’ve always been into makeup, and I’ve read makeup blogs/watched makeup videos for so long. I just wanted a creative space where I could talk about things I’m interested in!
  8. YouTube or Netflix?
    Netflix, hands down.
  9. Post the 7th most recent picture in your phone. No noodies.
An unfinished project that I posted on my calligraphy business’s Instagram:

    20180204_152605
  10. How did you meet your best friend?
I don’t have a best friend! Just a group of close girlfriends.
  11. How did you find writing out the 11 facts about yourself?
    Very difficult!

UNIQUE BLOGGER AWARD

I was tagged by Nova of SuperNovaBeauty. You must follow this gal if you don’t already – I’m so jealous of her makeup skills!

Rules:

  1. Answer all the questions asked by the blogger who nominated you
  2. Share the link of the blogger who nominated you
  3. Nominate 8 to 13 bloggers for the same award
  4. Ask 3 questions
  1. What movie can you watch over and over without ever getting tired of?
Enchanted! I don’t know how many times I’ve watched this, but it never fails to put a smile on my face. I don’t understand why this isn’t a more popular Disney movie. It’s such a cute movie, and I love the soundtrack.
  2. What are your most important rules when going on a date?
    Put that phone away!
  3. What “old person” things do you do?
Hmm, I go to bed early and wake up early, even on a weekend. I drink hot water with a slice of lemon. I spy on neighbours from my bedroom window (only when they’re on the street making a ruckus…I’m not that creepy LOL)

  1. This was so fun to read and learn about you. I agree btw, not a huge Beyonce fan she is overrated! Travel is always something I look most forward to each year too😊 And I need to learn French! I just back from Belgium and I was thinking how I’d love to learn another language. Thanks so much for the nomination😊 x

  2. Congrats on all your awards! It’s so much easier to lump together nominations, it saves a lot of time.
I was scared of TVS too after I saw The Ring! I think I was in Grade 9 when I first saw it, and even now if it’s late and my husband is working nights I’ll glance at the TV out of the corner of my eye to make sure it’s not doing anything weird… I’m a big scaredy-cat. I also didn’t like the grudge when the girl’s hair falls out in the shower if you remember seeing that. I don’t watch scary movies anymore, my imagination is overactive haha!

And I’m with you on the with guys with beards thing, Mike HAS to shave, beards are scratchy and make him look so much older xD

  3. Congrats on all the awards and nominations! ❤

I just tried Starbucks's Cherry Mocha latte they have for Valentine's Day – it's pretty good. Next time I'd order it half sweet. 😛

Oooh go to Japan! Hello… Tokyo Disney! You can hit up TWO parks there! Australia is on my bucket list too but I'd want to devote at least 3 weeks and hit up New Zealand at the same time.

At one point I didn't like the word "moist" but I didn't know if it was related to the meaning of the word, or the way it sounds. I decided it sounds ok but it was more about its meaning… 😛 Same with the word “panty”. 😆

I watched The Ring and still get freaked out by the tv screen when it’s turned off (and I’m alone). 😮

Hot water + lemon is totally old person thing to do! 😆 My old person thing is knitting… I like knitting, ok! 😛

That’s a really interesting perspective about how you go into makeup – that it doesn’t size discriminate!

Thanks so much for the nomination… will have to squeeze one last tag before I close off the blog! 😉 It’s been ages since I’ve done one of these!

    • I agree with you on the Cherry Mocha latte – WAY too sweet and needs to be ordered as half sweet! I’m kinda interested in getting it in Frappuccino form…

LOL my husband is using Disney Tokyo to “sell” Japan to me. I want to go to both! Beach or city/history/Disney? So tough.

Hahaha panty. But it’s just an undergarment you wear! And moist can be a good thing, right? Like a moist cake…? No?

Funny how the images from that movie stayed with so many people after they watched it! It’s freaky when it’s turned off, or WORSE, when there’s the black and white static!

Hehe, knitting is SO your old person thing! It’s in your blog logo!

Yayyy I was hoping you would squeeze in a tag before leaving your blog!

  4. I completely missed the tag on this post until I just saw someone clicked on it today – so thank you for tagging me! Just learnt so much about you! You’re 4 11, jeez I’m a whole foot taller than you! I love corgi’s too – I like that they’re a chunkier smaller dog rather than something that looks petite and breakable! haha!
Beyonce now…. I don’t get the hype about, Beyonce 5 years ago I totally get the hype about, I saw her in collaborative womens concert a few years ago called ‘Chime for Change’ and she was the headline – alongside J.lo it was my teenage dreams come true.
I love your questions – that’s my evening plans sorted!

    • I know, my bad, I was supposed to tell people they were tagged and I didn’t!

Hahaha I love that you’re a foot taller than me! I think we once talked about having trouble finding clothes that fit, but for completely opposite reasons.
Exactly, the chunkiness of corgis make them so cute! And the fluffy butts…
I actually wouldn’t mind going to a Beyoncé concert, even now as a non-fan. She must put on an amazing show. But her music/hype in general…ehhhh.
      Looking forward to your responses!

  5. Yikes I’m so behind on reading blogs, I missed that you tagged me in this, although I swore I read it and commented. Guess I just did so in my head. Thanks for the tag!

Oooh you’ve got some amazing trips planned for this year! My husband is always pushing me to go to Australia but I don’t know if I could handle the flight there.

Completely agree/samsies with you on slow walkers, the word moist (I actually have a list of words I hate), the Backstreet Boys and spying on neighbours

Errr you mentioned you wish you had artistic skills but I’m pretty sure your calligraphy business counts – that’s pretty artistic!

Also only child here too – how do you feel about it? I loved it growing up but now I wish I had a sibling, I find it lonely sometimes (thankfully my husband has a bunch of siblings to make up for lack of them).

    Liked by 1 person

    • Any trips planned for you guys this year! I’m always so envious of the trips you take!

Haha, I never really thought about calligraphy as being artsy, but I guess you’re right! Well then I wish I was better at it, haha!

I’m the same as you when it comes to being an only child – loved it when I was younger but I wish I had siblings as an adult. I’ve always wanted to be a part of a big family! You’re lucky your husband has siblings! My husband has a younger sister but she tends to step back from family functions and whatnot, so it’s often just the two of us.

  6. I’m glad that I actively went to search for this post! I was reading someone else’s tag post and remembered that I had tagged a bunch of people in one before I left for my vacation!

Hahaha, we have quite a bit in common and this was so enjoyable to read. If you hate people walking slow then you will enjoy Hong Kong – everyone walks pretty fast although I guess with the crowds at rush hour, it might get difficult.

I think there was one point where everyone made a big deal about the word “moist” so it kinda transpired to more people weirdly. It’s just a word! And I too, don’t get the big attraction about beards.
