I made my first ColourPop order back in February, and after more than two months of use, I’ve had enough time to test everything out thoroughly enough to do a review. At first I was going to put everything together into one post, but decided to split them up in order to be able to go into more depth. In today’s post, I’m covering the lip products I purchased. The next post will be on eye and cheek products!
Today’s post is a bit of a negative one: beauty brands I’m not interested in trying. I came up with this idea as I was browsing Trendmood and found myself scrolling right past new product releases from certain brands without even looking at the post. As a beauty blogger, I should probably want to try everything out there to test out, but there are just some brands that I just can’t get into for whatever reason. Obviously, if you love any of the brands mentioned, I don’t mean any offense – each and every one of these brands are immensely popular, so I’m probably in the minority!
Natasha Denona is quite possibly the #1 brand I have no interest in trying, although at one point I did want to buy their palettes. The high price tag of their products would be justified if 100% of the shades in their palettes performed amazingly, but I’ve swatched a number of their palettes at Sephora in the past, and the glittery shades seem like a hot mess with so much fallout. I do like that they have been coming out with smaller palettes that are more affordable for people who want to try the brand but don’t want to make the investment.
Today is the third installment in my Thursday Chats, where I discuss “hot topics” within the beauty community. As you can tell from the title, this month’s topic is PR trips. Just a disclaimer: none of these photos are mine, and they are all credited to the original source. There will always be that one person who tells me I’m gorgeous because they thought I was Tati (or whoever), even though I linked to the original source 😂
So, for those of you who may not be familiar with the term, what is a PR trip? It is a trip in which an influencer is invited to travel to another city (often a vacation hotspot and/or trending city) where they will participate in activities organized by the brand. The flight, accommodations, and activities are paid for and provided by the brand (likely partnered with other companies such as hotels or brands that will provide swag). The influencer may or may not be paid to attend the trip.
In 2016, Rachael from Helpless Whilst Drying did a 100 Movies challenge where she watched 100 movies with her husband during the year (here’s her 2017 list.) I loved the idea, and set to do the same thing myself in 2017. I wanted to do a little summary of my thoughts of each movie, but since I waited until the end of the year to post a list of the movies I watched, my post was over 5,000 words long – I never ended up posting it on my blog.
This year, I’ve decided to challenge myself to the same thing again, only I’m going to challenge myself to watch 50 movies this year since there’s no way I’ll be able to watch 100. I’ll do a movies post every three months, which will let me “review” them. Keep reading for a short review of each movie – it seems that I watched some really good movies these last few months even though not many of them are current!
Happy Friday, everyone! Today’s post is a review of another highlighter – probably because I’ve been buying too many of them lately 😂 This review is of Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in the shade Parisian Lights, which was added to my collection about a month and a half ago. I usually like to use products for a bit longer before I review them, but I believe this is a limited edition release, so I wanted to get a review out in case anyone out there is still contemplating getting this highlighter. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve actually seen any reviews of this highlighter myself.
I’ve mentioned before that I’ve loved Paris since I was a little girl, which I think stemmed from my love of the cartoon/books Madeline. I loved the city when I visited about 10 years ago, and now the city holds special meaning to me as it was one of the places we visited on our honeymoon. I’m not usually one to make impulse purchases, but the minute I saw this highlighter announced on Instagram back in January, I wanted to get my hands on it. Unfortunately, I found out that I wouldn’t be able to just walk into a Sephora to buy it, so I had to look at the other sources.
Today is Part 2 of my Sephora VIB sale posts! As per usual during the VIB sale, today I want to share with you what’s on my own wish list/shopping. It’s funny, because since I only purchase from Sephora during the sales, I spend a lot of time creating my shopping list and looking forward to the all the things I’m going to buy during the sale. Then when it actually comes time to shop the sale, there’s very little that I actually want to spend my money on. I think I’m becoming more careful about buying what I need from Sephora instead of spending frivolously, especially considering the rewards system is not great. I’m really trying to focus on buying things I “need” this time (aka replacement items), which only consists of two things. Maybe I’ll buy one or two “fun” things – I haven’t completely decided yet. I just know it’s not going to be a massive haul of 20 items this time.
As you can tell by the title, the subject of this blog post is different than my usual topics. Fitness is something I’ve been interested in for a few years now, and amongst other topics, I’ve always wanted to talk about working out and healthy eating on my blog. The fact that my blog is mostly beauty-based has always stopped me from doing so – I’m afraid that diversifying too much will cause a dip in interest from readers.
However, after chatting with a few blogger friends about this subject, I’ve convinced myself that it’s my blog so I should talk about what I want; even though I mainly talk about makeup, I’ve always categorized my blog as a “lifestyle blog”, so I’m going to start branching out this year. Here it is – a new topic called Fitness Fridays! In particular, today we get a little more personal than usual by talking about my fitness journey, which has been…well, a journey. PS – I didn’t know how to take pictures for this blog post (I’m no “fitspo”, you see) so umm…enjoy the memes.
A few days ago, I saw that the dates for the Sephora VIB were finally announced – this is something I think a lot of people eagerly anticipate each April!
In case you haven’t seen yet, the sale for VIB Rouge members extend over two weekends: Friday, April 13 to Monday, April 16th and again on Friday, April 20 to Monday, April 23rd. For VIBS and BIs, the sale is from April 20-23rd. Rouge and VIB members get 15% off, and BIs get 10% during the sale. An extra perk this year is that on April 13th, Rouge members can bring a friend to extend their 15% discount to the friend. I’m not sure how much of a perk this is, considering a lot of Rouge members probably buy products on behalf of other people anyways!
Because I don’t like Sephora’s reward system, I typically only shop at Sephora during the sales (even though I broke my own rule last year). I have a Sephora wish list post lined up for next week, but today I thought I would share with you my recommendations for the sale. There are a variety of products in here; some are ones I stock up on every time there’s a sale, a few are holy grail status for me, while others are “fun” products I’ve discovered in the last year or so. Read on for my recommendations!
I can’t believe we’re in April already! Time moves scarily quickly these, am I right? Hope everyone had a relaxing Easter! I’ve been behind on my blog posts (last week I only put one post up), and I’m anticipating being at work more often than I will be at home, so I worked on blog posts all weekend to get ahead and prepare for that.
Today’s post is on something that is long, long overdue: a review on all of the products I picked up in Italy while on my honeymoon last August. This post features products from the brands KIKO Milano, PUPA Milano, and Wycon Cosmetics. Some of these products are hard to come by in North America, but Nicole from Pretty Ruff Life told me that there is a KIKO store in Las Vegas, and Stashy said that PUPA is actually available at Rexall in Canada.
I bought all of these items in various cities across Italy, and they are all made in Italy as well – pretty cool!
