Happy 1st day of May, everyone! In today’s post, Today’s post is a haul of everything I picked up during the month of April. Most of it is from the Sephora Spring sale, but I also ended up picking a few things from other places along the way. I’m pretty happy that I mainly stuck with replenishments during the Sephora sale, but I spent WAY more than anticipated, so I’m hoping to cut down my spending a little in June and July (May is my birthday month so I’ve gotta treat myself, obviously).
SEPHORA VIB SALE PURCHASES
Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm with Echinacea GreenEnvy
This was on my “definitely buy” list and I did end up picking it up as a replacement for my MAC Cleanse Off Oil, which I’m running low on. I’m really excited to start using this – it smells so fresh and clean with a light lime-y scent, and it’ll be my first cleansing balm!
Herbivore Pink Cloud Rosewater Moisture Crème
This moisturizer was on my “maybes” list, but I decided to buy it during the sale as a backup, since I am running out of moisturizer. I’ve only used it twice so far, but the texture seems really nice and it smells amazing.
Too Faced Born This Way Concealer in Nude
A new foundation was also on my “definitely buy” list since I’m running out of the Urban Decay Weightless foundation, which I’m currently trying to finish up in my Project Pan. For my next foundation, I was deciding between the Too Faced Born This Way foundation, the YSL Touche Eclat foundation, and the Georgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation. To be honest, I think I liked the YSL foundation the best, but the Born This Way foundation still performed quite well and is a lot less expensive. I ended up choosing it over the others this time just because I was spending so much on other products this month, but the other two foundations are now on my list of things to try in the future.
Urban Decay Naked Skin Color Correcting Corrector in Green
Soooo as per usual, I ended up picking up something that wasn’t on my wish list, but in my defense, I felt like I needed a product like this. I hadn’t intended on buying any correctors, but I’ve been having issues with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation that haven’t gone away after months. The red spots refuse to be covered even with the Kat Von D Concealer Creme, which is the most heavy-duty concealer I’ve ever used. I thought I’d try my luck with this green corrector, which is supposed to help cancel out the redness before I apply concealer and foundation on top. The verdict is still out on this one – I didn’t like it at first, but I’m starting to feel like it’s growing on me. I’m giving it one more week before deciding whether I should return it or not.
Sephora Collection Dark Rainbow Z-Palette
I totally forgot to mention this product on my wish list! I’ve had this in my cart for months ever since I saw it on sale for $19 around Boxing Day, but I never bought it because I didn’t need it right away. I took the VIB sale as an opportunity to get even more of a discount on this. It’s ~*holographic*~ which is totally my jam, and the sides are SPARKLY. I have big plans for this guy and am looking forward to filling it up with pretties (says the girl who bought an empty MAC palette two years ago and has only filled it up with three eyeshadows).
Verb Sea Spray
This was the second item from the VIB sale I ended up purchasing that was not on my wish list. When I went to the hairdresser’s earlier this month, she gave my hair the prettiest beachy waves – something I’ve never been able to achieve on my own! She used an Oribe sea spray but even the minis were pretty pricey, so I opted to pick up this Verb Sea Spray at Sephora instead, since it contains more product for a lower price. The in-store tester smelled a bit funny, so I was a little worried – luckily, the tester must have just been old, because this smells so nice.
Oribe Texturizing Spray
Okay, so I have previously said that I would never buy hair products from my hairdresser again because I have never been able to achieve the same look that my hairdresser does on me using the same products. Well, I lied. While at the salon, I told my hairstylist that I have a problem with all of my curls clumping together into one giant curl every time I curl my hair, even when I alternate the way my curls go, or when I use hairspray to attempt to separate them. She told me that texturizing spray would help with that, and she used this product in my hair and the curls stayed separated all day. I’ve previously purchased an Oribe product that did NOT work for me, but at least I was smart this time and only bought the travel size to test out.
Chanel Chance Eau Tendre
Recently, there was a Spend Your Points event at Shoppers Drug Mart where the points you spend are worth an extra 10,000 points. I had 80,000 points to spend, so with the extra 10,000, I would’ve been able to redeem $90. BUT…I accidentally missed this event. However, a few days later, there was an event to earn 20,000 points if I spent over $50, so I bought this Chanel Chance Eau Tendre perfume that I’ve been meaning to buy for a while now. I haven’t purchased many fragrances in the last few years because I often forget to wear them, but attempting to use up my Waikiki Beach Coconut scent in my Project Pan has gotten me hooked on scents again. My mom bought me this Chanel Chance perfume for me when I graduated university and first started working, so the scent carries a bit of nostalgia for me. It’s been a few years since I’ve owned it, and it smells just as lovely and feminine as I remember!
That’s my haul for April! I spent more than anticipated, but my win is that I took the ABH Soft Glam palette in and out of my cart roughly 10 times before ultimately leaving it out – does my self-restraint make up for my overspending? Please share with me what you ended up buying this month!
