Project Pan Update #2

Hi everyone! Before we start, I just want to apologize if I’m absent on social media in terms of reading/replying to your blog posts or liking/commenting on your Instagram. Work has imploded so we are in crisis control mode, and most days I don’t know what day it is, what time it is, or what my name is. I try to tell myself we’re not saving babies or anything actually important like that, but deadlines are still deadlines. Please be patient with me – I am trying to stay on top of everything and am not doing a very good job!

Today’s post is the second update on my first Project Pan of the year, which I started back in January. I feel like I made some significant progress in a few of the products since my last update at the end of February!

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Poured Crème Highlighter in Moonstone

I thought that this would be an easy product to finish up, but I suppose that was rather optimistic of me as highlighters are notoriously difficult to use up. I skipped a few weeks of using highlighter in March (or much face makeup in general) as my skin was healing from a bad reaction right around the cheekbone area, so I feel like I didn’t use this as much as I normally would have. The weight did go down ever so slightly, though!

NYX Blush in Taupe

The last time I did my Project Pan update, I had all of these broken bits of this contour powder from the edges breaking off. I actually finished using those bits up mid-March and it looked all cleaned up, but then part of the edges broke off into tiny bits again. I used those ones up too, and now the powder has broken again! I find that so annoying. I’m actually quite curious to see if I will be able to use this up entirely by the end of June.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Paaaarty

Look guys, I hit pan! I was shocked when I saw a peek of the pan, as I had to re-press this blush in February after it shattered during an overnight trip, and it seemed like there was a lot of product in it. I was pretty messy at re-pressing it, so I might be cheating in how much product I need to use up because I lost some product when some of it went into the cracks between the outer packaging and the pan.

Bath and Body Works Waikiki Beach Coconut Perfume

I still use this perfume about three days a week, and I’m so close to finishing it up! I’ve owned this for more than two years, and I just realized that the liquid inside is green. I’m going to be a little sad when I finish this, because I really love this scent! I want to keep the bottle because it’s so pretty, but part of the prettiness is the green liquid inside that mixes with the blue packaging to make a pretty aqua, but once I use the perfume up, the green will be gone.

Jack Black Lip Balm

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m trying to finish off these Jack Black lip balms because I’ve used about a dozen of these and I’m ready to try something new. The one that sits on my bedside table has maybe a month of use left. The one I leave on my office as work has a ways to go – it probably won’t be finished by June.

Kiehl’s Lip Balm in Mango

I’m still pretty far from finishing this – I feel like I haven’t gotten anywhere with this since the last update, just because I don’t like using it! I feel like I should just throw this out at the end of June since I don’t love this.

Bite Beauty Luminous Crème lipstick in Shiraz

I’m officially done with this lipstick! I actually just finished it last week and wanted to get a new Bite lipstick during the VIB sale to replace this one, but I managed not to succumb to my makeup addiction by convincing myself that I had enough lipsticks to use up, haha.

Urban Decay Weightless Skin Liquid Makeup

So I should have/could have finished this foundation by the end of March, but I spent the last week of March and half of April testing out foundation samples from Sephora so that I could buy a new foundation during the VIB sale to replace this one. Since making my choice and purchasing the Too Faced Born This Way foundation, I’ve gone back to using this again so that I can finish it off. I probably have a month’s worth of foundation in this bottle.

AG Conditioning Mist

I’m steadily burning through this leave-in conditioner, but to be honest, I’m pretty excited to use this up because I much prefer the Bumble and Bumble Invisible Oil. This has gone down the most out of all the products in my Project Pan since hair products are a lot easier to use up!

Urban_Decay_Liner.jpg

Urban Decay 24/7 Dual-Ended Pencil Liner

I’m also getting through this eyeliner steadily, although I doubt I will finish this by the end of my Project Pan. I even cheated by sharpening this up before the weigh-in. It’s just so hard to finish pencil liner! Also, when a pencil liner core separates from the pencil itself, it means that it’s drying out, right? Because the black end of the pencil is totally doing that. But it still seems fairly pigmented, so I don’t know…

Urban Decay 24/7 Pencil Liner in Underground

Honestly, I keep forgetting about this product because I use it to line my lower lashline, which isn’t really a “necessary” step for me. The pencil itself is now shorter than the lid, so after my final update in June, I think I might just retire this pencil, haha.

Shiseido Ibuki Refining Moisturizer Enriched

Okay…I totally forgot about this moisturizer until last week when I was updating this post. Needless to say, it hasn’t been used up until the last few days! The texture is weird – super thick and greasy, but kind of hard to spread at the same time. I can’t remember if it’s always been like this or if it’s gone bad, but it still smells completely normal.

Urban_Decay_Naked_Palette

An honourable mention:

This item wasn’t in my Project Pan, but I’ve been trying to hit pan this item on the side, and I ended up achieving it! Just two weeks ago, I started seeing baby pan on the shade Naked from the original Naked palette. Last year, Nicole of Pretty Ruff Life was able to hit pan/finish a bunch of shades in this palette, and it kind of inspired me to do the same. The Naked palette was the very first high-end palette I’ve ever owned, way back in 2010. I know it’s kind of weird I still have a palette from so long ago, but I take good care of it, and it’s high time I try to hit pan on at least one of the shades! I think this palette might make a reappearance in the second half of my Project Pan!

Here’s my progress by weight! Not surprisingly, the ones with the biggest difference in weight since the end of February were the liquid products.

Project_Pan_Polished_and_Inspired

I feel pretty pleased with myself because I completely finished one product, hit pan on another, as well as hit pan on a product that wasn’t part of my Project Pan. I’m excited to see whether I can completely finish off some of these products in the third and final update!

  1. Project Pans are the best! I love the Jack Black lipbalms and Tarte blushes. I have wanted to start a Project Pan with my naked two palette… I def have hit pan on like seven of the shades but have yet to finish them.

  2. You’re doing an awesome job! 🙂 Can I ask what your daily makeup routine is like for work? What base products do you use? And don’t worry about not regularly posting, especially when work is busy! I have been the same and I can’t even believe it’s May! (Typing it out is even more crazy haha.)

I have been quite lazy with makeup in most of April too but recently I started using makeup again, and rediscovering things. This post has just reminded me that I have products to finish actually. 😂

    • Thank you for the encouragement, I appreciate that! I pretty much do a full face of makeup for work, to be honest – I can do an in-depth post on it if you’re interested. But in terms of base makeup, I use the primer, concealer, and foundation: the Becca Back Light Priming Filter, Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer Crème, and the Urban Decay foundation from this post.

Oh my gosh, you’re so right. It didn’t really click in my head until now that we’re somehow near halfway through the year?!

I totally know what you mean – I have phases where I’m super into makeup, and then suddenly I’m not!

  3. Yes please! I would like an in-depth post on what makeup you use for work. 😊 Am curious and it’s interesting to see what makeup people do for work – whether more natural or more medium/full coverage.

Next month is my birth month and am totally not ready to be another year older. 🤣😭 I feel like yesterday was just February and that I was still in Hong Kong LOL.

    • I think my makeup looks more natural even though I do a full face…if that makes any sense? I will definitely share all the products I use, but hmm, this is going to be difficult to show the “after” when I don’t show my face on social media! LOL

Wait, you went to Hong Kong in February? I swear you just came back last month hahaha. But you’re right, you went during CNY. Crazy how fast time flies!

  4. Hope everything at work is good! I totally have those moments when things are crazy and work ends up consuming all your time!

Congrats on hitting pan on your Tarte blush!

You’ve made good progress on your project pan!

  5. You’re job sounds so stressful, I hope things settle down for you soon 😦
You’re getting so close on that perfume! What are you going to replace it with once it’s finished?
I don’t think I’ve EVER seen someone finish a full lipstick in a project pan, great job!

    • Sorry for the late reply, I’m just catching up to comments because I’ve barely been at home! Ugh my job has been SO BAD. I worked an extra 24 hours of overtime last week, and no I don’t get paid for it!

I just bought the Chanel Chance Eau Tendre perfume in April, so I guess that is the replacement for the BBW! Although I do want another tropical-smelling one for summer…

Haha, maybe I cheated because the lipstick was near the finish line when I put it into my Project Pan…but lipsticks are so difficult to finish!

      • Don’t worry about it, I totally understand. I’ve been behind on blogging and answering comments for the last week. What they don’t pay you for that? Isn’t that…illegal? 😮 I guess if you’re salary it’s not, but that sucks!

I’m looking at B&BW right now and there are so many to choose from, I wouldn’t even know where to start 😄

It still counts! I never add brand new items to my project pans, it’s always the ones that I’ve been trying to finish for a while.

  6. Has the new ERP system rolled out at your work? 😆

Good job on hitting pan on the Tarte blush! I cannot remember the last time hitting pan on a blush…

Wow, look at how much you’ve used on the BBW Waikiki perfume. I see that they’ve once again re-released the collection – yay! But no perfume, just body care stuff. I still have so many tubes from previous years I’ve laid off visiting BBW for a while.

I always line my lower lash line with a taupe-y pencil liner or else I look “unfinished” since I have nearly no eyelashes there… o_O

Great job with panning – keep it up! Hope work is less crazy now…?

    • Yes, it rolled out April 1st…I just about died the first week of May when we did our month end close in the new system for the first time LOL.

So the Tarte blush is a deluxe sample size (from last year’s Sephora birthday gift), so it might be a bit of a cheat, BUT it’s still quite hard to finish a blush this size! I don’t think I’ve ever finished a full sized blush…

Weird, I (finally) ran out of body washes, so I visited BBW recently looking for new ones, and I did not see any of the tropical summer collection at all! Was hoping to purchase some of those scents cause they’re the best! Haha I totally understand having a big enough stash to not have to visit BBW for several months – I’m usually the same!

That’s exactly why I line my lower lash line, too! I wish I was better at remembering to do it…do you put mascara on your lower lashes?
