Sephora Beauty Insider Appreciation Sale Wish List

Apparently, Sephora is finally revamping their Beauty Insider perks, and they’re starting it off by having a sale. This is big, considering Sephora is known to have store-wide sales only in April and November. Here are the details of the sale: starts August 24 to September 3 for Rouge members, who get 20% off with the code YESROUGE. VIB members get 15% (code YESVIB) and BI members get 10% (code YESINSIDER), and the sale for them runs from August 30 to September 3.

In addition to the sale, Sephora is also adding some other perks based on tiers. All of this is a step in the right direction, but I feel like they still have a ways until they get close to places like Shoppers Drug Mart and Ulta.

Anyways, my post today is mostly about the upcoming sale. While this surprise sale is very exciting, I’m going to try not to go too crazy. I’m going to Japan in September and I’m probably going to buy a lot there, so I’m trying not to go crazy. I always have a running list of things that I want from Sephora and I usually have a good idea of what I’ll actually pick up during the sale and what is staying on the wish list, but this time I’m undecided as to what I will actually purchase. Read on to see my list!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss

I’ve heard so much about these from Nova of Super Nova Beauty – they’re one of her favourite products. I’ve never been much of a gloss girl, so I don’t know what’s gotten into me, but I keep eyeing these lately. In particular, I have my eye on Kristen, Parfait, Vintage, and St. Tropez.

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick

Believe it or not, but once I finish the Urban Decay lipstick that’s currently in my Project Pan, I have very few nude lipsticks in a cream finish left in my collection. I want to buy my next nude cream lipstick from Bite Beauty. My top choices are Chai or Rhubarb (which runs more pink), or Toasted Cardamom from their LE Spice Things Up collection.

YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Oil-In-Stick Lipstick

I’ve never really had the urge to own a YSL lipstick before, but I was looking at them recently and they are seriously appealing to me. I like how they have a really shiny finish – I know during the fall that people tend to go for the matte finish, but I’ve been feeling glossy lips as of late.

It Cosmetics CC Cream

I know we’re headed into autumn and people tend to gravitate towards CC Creams during the summer because they are lighter, but right now I only own a heavier foundation and I want a lighter option. I’ve been wanting to try this CC cream for a while, but I’m just not sure if I want to buy this now or wait on it.

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

This is another product I’ve wanted to try for a long time, and now I’m more motivated since finding out that they have 3 limited-edition scents released. I’m so confused because I saw on Trendmood that they are available at Sephora (Grapefruit, Vanilla, and Apple Lime), and I did see them on the website the day it was announced, but I haven’t seen them since? Preferably it would be nice for Laneige to release a set of minis, because I want all of these scents!

Herbivore Hydrate & Glow Natural Skincare Mini Collection

Herbivore is a brand that I would like to try more products from, and a few of them are included in this kit. I also feel like the mini size of the Pink Cloud Rosewater Creme (I’m currently using the full size) would be perfect to bring along for my upcoming trips. HOWEVER, as much as I want to try these products, I feel like I already have too much skincare in my collection, and I don’t really need any new skincare in my life right now.

Drunk Elephant The Littles Kit

Drunk Elephant is another product I really want to try, and this set has a bunch of the products I’m interested in. However, like I said about the Herbivore kit, I don’t really need most of these items right now as I still have so many products I’m in the middle of using. I think I might save this to pick up during the November VIB sale instead.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Palette

I’m quite interested in this palette because I’m a huge purple lover, but I just don’t know if I’m quite ready to buy this yet, especially considering I’ve gotten so many new eyeshadow singles and palettes in the last few months. I swatched this in stores and it’s lovely, but I’m worried I won’t reach for this as much as I currently imagine that I will. It’s not likely I’m purchasing this during the sale, but I’ll keep it on my wish list for now.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Palette

Sheesh, I have a lot of ABH products on this list. I’ve had this palette on my wishlist since it came out in March. These shades really, really appeal to me, moreso than the Norvina palette. However, I really need another neutral palette…said no makeup collector ever. Seriously, I’m trying to pan the UD Naked Palette which I’ve owned for YEARS, on top of owning various other neutral palettes – I have no justification for buying this. Like the Norvina palette, I’m unlikely to buy this one, too.

That’s about it in terms of what I’m interested in! What are you planning to buy during the sale?

  1. Hmmmm you have lots of good contenders on your list! You know, I really wasn’t planning to buy a lot during this sale either, but I’ve just started to run out of some very expensive things, god damnit. So it’s adding up anyways.

For the ABH gloss, I think you would use Kristen or Vintage the most. I have both St. Tropez and Parfait, and although they are pretty, I hardly ever use them. Their formula also seems to be slightly different, which I’m not the hugest fan of.

The different flavours of the Laneige lip sleeping mask sound so delicious. I own the original one sold at Sephora, and honestly, I don’t notice it having much of a difference as compared to a regular lip balm. I know people rave about it, but it’s kind of a product regret for me. It’s also just annoying to have to apply with a tiny little spatula (it comes with one) and then clean that, all so that you aren’t dipping your fingers in there. I much prefer the Rosebud Co. Tropical Ambrosia Balm (available in the checkout line at Sephora but not online for whatever reason) or the Jack Black Moisture Therapy Balm.

If you were to go with one skincare set over the other, the Herbivore one sounds better! With regards to the Drunk Elephant one, I wasn’t impressed with the majority of those products. The B-hydra really didn’t hydrate, I didn’t notice anything with the vitamin C serum, and apparently that jelly cleanser is terrible.

I would recommend either of those ABH palettes. I’ve been playing with Norvina this week and it is consistent with the others. You would probably use Soft Glam the most. I know it’s another neutral palette, but I think it is THE neutral palette to have. But you know me 😉 I’ve already panned 4 shades, so I think that’s a testament.

    • In a way, the sale came at a good time for you – at least you can replenish your expensive items at a discount!

Oooh that’s so frustrating that St. Tropez and Parfait have a different formula! Maybe it’s because of the shimmers…I just swatched them in stores at lunchtime and they’re so beautiful, so it makes me sad you don’t like the formula as much! Thank you for the tip, though.

Hmm, good to know you didn’t find the Laneige Lip Mask to be any different from a regular balm. I still need to buy the Rosebud Co. balm – I keep meaning to purchase it!! I’m running low on my Jack Black balm so maybe now is a good time to get it.

I can’t believe you didn’t like most of the DE products! People rave about them so much. I have heard mixed reviews about the B-Hydra, though.

I definitely would use Soft Glam more, but I can see myself in the mornings being like “do I want to do a neutral eye from the Naked palette, the Tartelette in Bloom palette, or the Soft Glam palette today” when they all end up looking more or less the same LOL – at least the Norvina palette would make me do something a little different. I am astounded that you’ve panned 4 shades already!!

      • It’s true, this will be my restock only sale. Unless I buy new things too.. sigh..

The only DE products I thought were good were the TLC and the Virgin Marula oil. I think the rest are meh. It’s a dangerous game trying those minis when the full sizes are so expensive, that’s for sure! But I guess the Herbivore products are pricey too!

I can totally see what you are saying with the Norvina palette. Also, neutral looks are very do-able with it too. So really it is a nice way to slightly branch out.

  2. Not planning on buying anything since I just treated myself to a few goodies for my birthday a couple weeks ago (and I got rent due when the sale is going on).

I loooove those ABH glosses. I own several. I have both full and mini sizes of Kristen (the mini lives in my purse). Toffee & Caramel are great shades too.

Ohhh those Bite lipsticks are the best. Seriously. I have full & mini sizes of Chai. Pepper is another great nude/“my lips but better” shade (I have it in the old Luminous Creme formula but planning on buying it in the Amuse Bouche formula once I use it up).

  3. Oh that Herbivore set looks great! Might have to add that to the list.

I just swatched Norvina in store the other night, and I was actually shocked at how neutral the palette looked. It is quite lovely! I wanted Soft Glam for a long time, but I already own Modern Renaissance, and now with Norvina, I think I will have all tones to cover soft glam and not miss it.

    Awesome wish list!

    • Oh, I agree with you on being surprised by Norvina, too! I feel like that’s why it might be a good choice – I can still venture out into a little colour, yet stay in my safe neutral-eye zone if I wanted to haha.

      Happy shopping!

  4. I’m thinking of picking up some MAC products during the sale, since they just started selling the line at Sephora (hopefully will be included in the sale). I also really need a new leave-in conditoner, do you have any recommendations?

    Liked by 1 person

    • Yes, super exciting that they’re stocking MAC now!

For leave-in conditioner, I love Bumble & Bumble’s Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Heat & UV Protective Primer. B&B doesn’t call it a leave-in conditioner, but when I told my hairdresser I needed a new leave-in conditioner, this is what she recommended, AND it also comes up as a search result when you Google “Bumble & Bumble leave in conditioner”. It’s really moisturizing without weighing the hair down!

  5. I want to try those Laneige lip mask flavours too! I was so confused when they were announced on Trendmood and Sephora had the picture up of all the different ones but the product page only had one type 😦 I need that Apple Lime in my life!
I’m going to pick up that CC cream for the sale if it’s still in stock! i hope they restock some of the products that sold out on the first Rouge sale day.

    • I know!! I saw them on the Sephora app the day it was announed, but haven’t seen them since! Yesss Apple Lime would be the first one I want to try, too!

I really hope that they restock some of the products too! I get that it’s a perk for Rouge to be able to shop first, but VIBs and BIs should get to have a fair chance to buy the things they want, too.

  6. The IT Cosmetics CC cream is a favourite of mine – do you have dry skin? I think it works best for those with dry/normal or combo but probably not oily – it’s pretty dewy – even I have to set it and my skin is quite dry. Sometimes you can get gd deals on it on The Shopping Channel if you decide to hold off.
The Soft Glam is on my list still as well; as much as I want it I will probably just throw it on my Christmas list and hope someone picks it up for me then.
I really wanted that Laniege Sleeping Mask for me but it totally dried out my lips! Everyone raves about it though so I’m confused why it didn’t work for me.

    • Yes, I have dry skin! Good to know you think it works best on dry skin…I think it’s going in my cart during the November VIB sale for sure.

Ooooh good thinking about putting the Soft Glam palette on your Christmas wish list. Or buy it with gift cards you get during Christmas, haha.

Oh no! Maybe it had ingredients that your lips reacted to?

  7. I was really unprepared for this Sephora sale – I only heard about it when I saw it mentioned on Reddit (wehere else?) and I thought it was a mistake but it wasn’t!

I can’t believe that you’re “running out” of nude lipsticks! 😛 I have both Chai and Rhubarb – I bought Rhubarb first and found it a little too pink, I reach for Chai more nowadays.

Not sure if I ever mentioned to you that I bought one of the YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Lipsticks and… I don’t love it but I think it’s just me. It smells weird to my strange nose. I’ve asked various people to smell my tube and they all say it smells like a sweet berry or fruity scent. Me? I smell rotten cucumbers. 😮 It’s a nice formula though but I never reach for it.

I bought the IT Cosmetics CC Cream during the sale! After all this time and so much hype, I finally decided to get it. I’m almost finished my previous BB cream and it was time for something different. Haven’t tried yet but cross my fingers.

Besides the CC cream, I also picked up the Givenchy Prisme Libre Loose Powder in Mousseline Pastel, and the Pat McGrath MTHRSHP Subliminal Platinum Bronze Eyeshadow Palette. I’m excited to try everything… soon-ish. 😛

I saw on your IG that you got the Drunk Elephant The Littles Kit? Is that all you got? 😉

Soooo psyched about your upcoming trip to Japan! ❤ ❤ ❤

    Liked by 1 person

    • I knew about it early on (I think I heard about it on Trendmood on IG) and even I felt unprepared! Maybe part of it was because they sprung this sale on us out of nowhere, and then partly because I was caught between shopping or saving money for Japan, haha.

I kind of thought the same thing when I went to look at the Bite lipsticks in person – Rhubarb looked a tad pinker than what I was looking for. Chai looked beautiful! I didn’t end up getting it, though.

LOL rotten cucumber?! How random and weird. I’ve smelled them before and they smell sweet to me as well!

Oooh girl you got some ~*fancy*~ stuff in the sale! I hope you enjoy them! You should definitely do some updates on your IG when you get to using them…hint hint…

    • Oooh and I forgot to answer your last question about what I got during the sale. My original order included the Littles Kit and an ABH lip gloss, and then I saw that the Bite Beauty liquid lipsticks were 50% off, so I went to pick one up in stores. I haven’t tried anything from the Littles Kit yet, but the lip products are really nice!
