Hi everyone! After what seems like waiting forever, we’re finally leaving for our vacation in Japan tomorrow, so today I’m sharing with you the makeup and skincare I’m taking with me. I got eyelash extensions a few days ago so that I wouldn’t have to bring an eyelash curler, mascara, or eyeliner, so you won’t be seeing these three items in my makeup bag. Read on to see what I’m bringing!
I always used to save skincare samples to bring on vacation, but then I realized that using all-new products in an environment that my skin wasn’t used to was a recipe for disaster. For the past few vacations we’ve gone to, I’ve started bringing a condensed routine of my every day skincare, and my skin seems to have responded better to that.
Garnier All-in-One Miscellar Water
I have been using the Farmacy Green Clean Cleansing Balm which would have been perfect for travel since I wouldn’t have had to include it in my liquids bag. However, because of the eyelash extensions, I can’t use any makeup removers that contain oil. I purchased the All-in-One Garnier Miscellar Water a few weeks ago, which is oil-free and has rave reviews in the beauty community. I’ve used it for the last week and a half just to get my skin used to it; it’s my first time using a miscellar water, and I’m surprised by how much I like it. Since I purchased the large bottle (I’ll need it for my lashes even after I come back from the trip), I’ve decanted some of it into a small, travel-friendly container.
Laneige Multi Cleanser
This cleanser is a deluxe sample that came in a Laneige set I bought last Christmas. I actually ran out of face cleanser about two months and started using this one, but then I realized I should be saving it for the trip since it’s travel-sized. The four weeks of using it at home gave me the chance to test the cleanser out and get my skin acclimated to it though, so that I’m not using it brand new while on vacation.
Clinique Pep Start Eye Cream
Similar to the Laneige Multi Cleanser, I started using this sample size at home when I ran out of eye cream, but then I started realizing that it’s the perfect size for travel, so I stopped using it to save the rest for the trip. Can you believe that this tiny tube lasted me all summer and there’s STILL enough left for me to bring on vacation!
Herbivore Pink Cloud Rosewater Creme
This is my current daytime moisturizer. It’ll still be summer weather in Japan when we’re there (25-29 degrees), so this will be the perfect light moisturizer for the weather. I’ve decanting some into a small jar to bring with me, since this is huge.
Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask
Whenever I go on vacation, my skin always loses its damn mind, so I want to pamper it as much as I can. This is the perfect way to treat my skin well without taking extra time – I just put it on and go to bed. I use the full size of this at home, and save this mini size specifically for travel. It’s a little extra, but I don’t mind bringing this along, since it’s so tiny – plus it gives me an excuse to finish up a sample size for my Project Pan, right?
Bumble & Bumble Invisible Oil Heat Primer
I always need leave-in conditioner and heat primer, and I’m happy that this does both. I’ve been using this for a year now, and it’s become a staple in my routine. This is huge, so I’ve decanted this into a small spray bottle.
Jack Black Lip Balm (not pictured)
I wanted to bring this because it’s almost empty so it takes up less space and all of my other lip balms, and because it contains SPF. This should be an Empty by the time I come home!
Too Faced Born This Way Foundation
I only buy and use one foundation at a time, and this is the one that I’m currently using. I don’t really want to bring the whole bottle, so I’ve pumped some out into one of those little plastic jars you get from Sephora when you ask for a sample. I only use a little foundation at a time, so that sample jar should be able to last me two weeks.
Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer Creme
This is the current and only concealer I’m using as well, so it’s coming along. My skin is FINALLY getting better, so this will be good for days where I might not feel like wearing foundation.
Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder
My every day setting powder! I have a small sample-sized jar that used to hold the Shiseido Translucent Setting Powder, so I have now decanted this powder into that jar.
MAC Studio Finish Concealer
I’ve used this as my eyeshadow primer for the last few years, and I really love it; however, if I don’t finish this thing by the end of this year, I’m just going to dig out the rest of the product and then Back to MAC the packaging because it’s too old to keep around.
Tarte Tartelette in Bloom Palette
I did a review of this palette a few weeks ago. It’s the first time I’m bringing this on vacation with me – I’ve used it enough to know that it’s good palette for creating complete looks, and it has the full-size mirror which will be super handy as well.
ColourPop Brow Boss
I’ve only used this once at home because I go through brow pencils like water and wanted to save it for the trip. I pretty much purchased this for the sole purpose of traveling with it, since I’ve been using the ABH Dipbrow Pomade for the last six months and did not want to bring it on vacation – it’s way too fussy to travel with, especially because I need to bring a brush with it too!
Glossier Cloud Paint in Beam
I was tempted to bring the Tarte Amazonian Clay blush in Paaarty since it’s in my Project Pan. However, I really want to bring as little as possible, and taking a cream blush means I have one less brush to pack. I’ve only used Cloud Paint a handful of times, so I’m excited to dedicate two weeks to enjoying it.
ColourPop Super Shock Highlighter in Flexitarian
Similar to the Glossier Cloud Paint, I thought that this cream highlighter would be perfect to bring as it means I don’t need to use a highlighter brush with it. Plus, this is a fairly new addition to my makeup collection, so I’ll really get a chance to use and appreciate this product as well.
I have a really hard time condensing my makeup and skincare routine. This is a condensed version and I still feel like I’m bringing too much, haha! What are your must-haves for travel?
