What I’m Bringing on Vacation

Hello, everyone! Today I’m doing another post on what I’m bringing with me on vacation. I can’t believe I’m doing another one of these so soon!

As you’re reading this, I am on my flight to Hong Kong. This time, I’m bringing a checked bag instead of only a carryon like I normally do, and I have so much more space than I’m used to that I don’t know what to do with it all! Yet with all this extra space, I feel like I’m bringing even less skincare and makeup than usual. Read on to see what I am taking with me!

Bumble & Bumble Invisible Oil Garnier SkinActive Miscellar Oil.jpg

Bumble & Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Primer

This is the only hair product I’m bringing, so we’ll talk about it first. I cannot get through a single shower without using this as a leave in conditioner/heat protectant, so I made sure to decant some to bring along with me.

Garnier SkinActive All-in-One Miscellar Water

I got lash extensions on our last trip and it was the best decision I’ve ever made, so I did it again for this trip. You can’t use oil-based removers with lash extensions, so I’m bringing this Miscellar Water along with me. I’ve never “believed” in miscellar waters until recently, but I love how effective this one is!

Drunk Elephant.jpg

Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Serum

While this is a decent hyaluronic acid, it’s nothing special considering the price. It’s a really good size for travel though, and I’ve used it enough times at home to figure out that I don’t have any negative reactions to it, so I’m taking it with me.

Drunk Elephant TLC Framboos Glycolic Night Serum

While I feel pretty meh about the B-Hydra, I love the TLC Framboos Glycolic Night Serum and think that it’s done a lot of good for my skin. I think this might help to keep my skin normalized in the case that it freaks out while I’m on vacation.

Moisturizer

Laneige Multi Cleanser

I took this on my Japan trip in September and never finished it, so this is coming along on my current trip as well. I really like this cleanser – it’s gentle but effective, removes all makeup, and doesn’t strip my skin of its oils.

Laneige Balancing Emulsion

On our last trip, I packed some hydrating products which I always layer onto my skin at home. However, I forgot to factor in the weather of the place we’re going to. It was more humid in Japan than it is here, so the skincare I brought was too thick and sticky. Hong Kong is extremely humid, so this time, I’m going to pack this light moisturizer. I tend to use this in the summers at home, but I think it’ll be perfect for November weather in Hong Kong.

Clinique Eye Cream.jpg

Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask

I like to pamper my skin while I’m on vacation in order to keep breakouts at bay, but I don’t like to make my routine fussy because we’re too busy being out and about. This Origins overnight mask is the perfect skincare item for this purpose – I just slather it onto my face before bed, and it keeps my skin happy while I’m sleeping.

Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream

This is another product I thought I would finish during my Japan trip, but I still have some left! Not only do I love this eye cream, but it’s also the perfect size for travel. I’m really hoping to finish this eye cream by the end of this trip!

Glossier Lip Balm.jpg

Glossier Coconut Balm Dotcom

I cannot function without lip balm, so my current go-to lip balm is obviously coming along with me. I only wish this had SPF in it like my usual Jack Black balm does!

Laura Mercier Ambre Vanille Hand & Body Creme

These Laura Mercier hand creams are so luxurious – they’re not as hydrating as I would like, but they smell amazing and get the job done. They’re also a great size for keeping in your handbag or travelling with!

Eyeshadows.jpg

In terms of eyeshadows, I tend to bring a 12-pan palette like the Tarte Tartelette palettes or the UD Naked palettes. This time, I’ve decided to pack a few small palettes and singles that I enjoy but that have been neglected lately!

Inglot Quad

I mentioned this in my Eyeshadow I’ve Forgotten I Own post – I love this customized palette but have only pulled this out once this year, so I think that bringing it on the trip will give me a chance to enjoy and appreciate it.

Stila Shimmer & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Grace

I’ve recently rediscovered these Shimmer & Glow liquid eyeshadows in my collection and remembered how much I love it. I’m looking forward to using this on the trip!

Tarina Tarantino Quint in Magical

Another rediscovery in my collection – I haven’t touched this all year and am excited to start using it again!

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in Weenie

This is not a product I’ve neglected, but one that I love. I have a feeling I’m going to end up reach for this the most because these ColourPop cream shadows are so easy to use – just swipe and go!

Base Makeup.jpg

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation

The last time I brought foundation on vacation, it was so hot that I barely wore it. I decanted some of this into a small jar and am bringing this as a “just in case” product, but I have a feeling I’ll only be wearing this half the time.

Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer

Concealer is a must in my routine. I’m hoping to finish this Kat Von D one soon as I’m no longer supporting the brand.

La Roche Posay Antihelios Mineral Sunscreen

I’ve repurchased this so many times as it’s my favourite face sunscreen. I’ll definitely be needing this during the trip.

Face Products.jpg

Glossier Cloud Paint in Beam

I brought cream products to use in Japan so that I wouldn’t have to bring a bunch of brushes, and it worked out so well, so I’m doing it again! The Glossier Cloud Paints are so easy to use. I would love more of these eventually, but as of now, this is the only one I own!

ColourPop Super Shock Highlighter in Flexitarian

So I brought this with me to Japan and it was so stinking hot that I only used it once. Since we’re going to Hong Kong in November, it won’t nearly be as hot (but still 20+ degrees, which I am so excited for!!) and I can see myself using this.

ColourPop Brow Boss Brow Pencil

Before my last trip, I had eyelash extensions done and it was the best idea I ever had, so I did it again for this trip. This means I don’t have to bring mascara or eyeliner, so besides eyeshadow, brow product is the only eye makeup I’m bringing with me. I took this brow pencil with me on my last trip, and it was really good to use when I wanted my brows done in a jiffy, so I’m going to bring it again.

That is it for everything I’m bringing with me on this trip! What is a must-have product for you when you go on vacation?

  1. OH have a fantastic trip!

I like that you included items you want to use up like the Laniege cleanser and emulsion. I like taking half-used items and them emptying them on my trip so it’s easy to just toss them out and I don’t have to worry about bringing them back with me.

When I travel, I always take my contour/highlight palette – that way I can use it on my face and it doubles as eyeshadow so I don’t need to worry about taking a separate eyeshadow palette. Like you did here, I would just take some shimmer/glitter eyeshadow singles to use for fancy nights out.

    • Thank you, love! Lol I always think I’m going to finish the products on the trip and throw it out, but I always have some left by the end of the trip and end up hauling it home 😑

What a brilliant idea to pack a contour and highlight palette and use it as eyeshadow, I’ve never thought of that!

  2. Have a safe trip! I am so jealous but excited for you lol I can’t wait to hear all about it (actually, I still need to catch up with your Japan travels!).

I love your choices here. I think the more you travel and bring products with you, the more savvier you get with what you bring. I can’t wait to see what you bring back to Canada!

  3. I’m a big fan of that Origins Overnight Mask but I kind of hate the scent – it’s so strong. It works really well though so I tolerate it.

I just picked up a tube of that Laura Mercier hand cream while in Vegas – I am in love with that scent! I was hoping to get it in fragrance-form but I couldn’t find it. It smells so warm and comforting.

I packed waaaaay too much makeup with me on vacation and I didn’t use most of it. I find when I’m somewhere humid and hot I just want to the do the bare minimum. But like you I was so used to just packing for a carry-on that I didn’t know what to do with all the extra space (and liquids!) you get with checked baggage.

Hmmm my must-have product for vacay has to be IT Cosmetics CC Cream; I find it works in pretty much any climate and is super easy to apply. 🙂

    • Ahh, I love the scent of it! You’re right though, I do understand that it can be a little too strong for some people though.

The LM hand creams smell soooo yummy, like I just want to eat them from the tube lol.

Yes, I’ve realized in the last year or so that I used to WAY overpack on makeup and then would wear the bare minimum, especially in hot and humid places (which to be honest probably constitutes 90% of the places we go because it’s the complete opposite of the weather we get here, am I right?). Better to bring less and just work with what you have.

The IT Cosmetics CC Cream is something I am determined to try next year!
