Hi, everyone! I haven’t really done a haul post in a long time, for a few different reasons. For one, I feel like they offer no value to the reader, and second, I tend to buy in small spurts – one or two items a month, and rarely large hauls, so it’s not very exciting. However, this month I spent way more than I was expecting, partially because I ran out of products and partially because…I have no self control. Read on to see all the goodies I acquired this year!
Shiseido Benefiance WrinkleResist Intensie Eye Contour Cream – $73
I had been using the Drunk Elephant Shaba Eye Complex as my eye cream since January, and my under eye area was crying for someone to save them. They looked SO crepey every time I applied concealer underneath, and the Shaba Eye Complex just wasn’t hydrating enough for the dry, Canadian winter. I finally gave in and purchased my holy grail eye cream, the Shiseido Benefiance WrinkleResist24 Intensive Eye Contour Cream. At least I took advantage of the gift with purchase event that was going on at the time, and managed to get 6 samples and a makeup bag with this eye cream. My eye area has been so much happier with me since starting to use this again!
Zoya – $101
I’ve been on a nail polish kick in the last month, and I couldn’t really put my finger on why that was until I realized it was because I was chatting with one of my coworkers about getting nails done at a salon. When I told her that I paint my nails every Friday night as my “chilling out” ritual, she was shocked because she thought they looked so good that she thought I got them done professionally every week. First off, not only was that compliment super sweet and unexpected, but it kind of made me want to add a larger variety of shades in my collection. I “only” own about 20-something polishes, so I felt like I had a little allowance to buy a few more. Zoya was having a BOGO sale, so I got twelve polishes for the price of six! Zoya offers free shipping if you purchase over $55 USD, which is equivalent to six polishes, which is why I ended up with twelve.
The unfortunate thing about ordering from the Zoya website if you live in Canada is that you don’t have to pay for shipping if your order is over $55 USD. However, I did have to pay $15 USD for international processing. This sale is fantastic deal when you live in the US and pay in USD ($60 for 12 nail polishes), but this ended up costing me $101 CAD. At full price it would have been about $180 CAD, so I still got a good deal, but it wasn’t as inexpensive as it seemed to be at first!
When ColourPop released their new spring collection, I had a few things I was interested in picking up. ColourPop sent out an email saying they were having a 20% sitewide sale, so I decided to take the plunge, but I gave them the serious side-eye NONE of the things that I wanted were part of the sale! I still ended up placing my order, though, because #treatyoself.
Spring Collection – $30 USD
From the new spring collection, I picked up two Jelly Much shadows in the shades Big Ego and Doves & Roses. The Jelly Much eye shadows have always intrigued me (just put “jelly” in the name and I will automatically want to buy it), but none of the shades spoke to me until they released these ones from the spring collection. I also picked up a Super Shock Cheek from the collection in the shade Growth Flirt. I’m rather annoyed because the shade looked a lot more muted on the website and in video swatches I’ve seen, but it’s really bright in person. The shade is very pretty and I’m am not afraid to wear bright blushes, but I bought this because I wanted a toned-down blush, so I’m a bit disappointed. In addition to the spring collection, I also picked up a single shadow in the shade Earthshine.
Fourth Ray Beauty – $25 USD
I’ve been entertaining the idea of trying ColourPop’s Fourth Ray Beauty skincare line, and I finally decided to take the plunge on this order. I picked up the Tsubaki Oil and the Wide Awake set, which includes the Watermelon Oil, Matcha Milk, and Fresh AF Mist. I ran out of The Ordinary’s 100% Plant-Derived Squalane in March, so it was a good opportunity to try one of their oils. I’m not paticularly interested in the Watermelon Seed Oil, but I did want to try the other two products from the set, and it was a better value to buy it all together rather than the two products separately.
When I first opened up the box that my ColourPop order came in, the whole box smelled really good, and I knew that some of the Fourth Ray Beauty products had leaked. It had happened to Always Cleia when she ordered some Fourth Ray Beauty products, so I had a feeling it happened to me too. When I saw the box that the Wide Awake set came in, this was confirmed, because the lower right side of the box was damp. When I opened the set up, the Fresh AF Mist had water droplets on the outside of the spray and it wasn’t completely filled up to the top, so this was the product that had leaked. I can’t imagine that Cleia and I are the only ones who received leaking products, and I’m a little surprised that Fourth Ray Beauty hasn’t fixed this issue yet.
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer – $37
I was running low on my current concealer (the KVD Lock-It Concealer) for the last few months, but I thought I would be able to stretch it until the VIB sale before replacing it. Unfortunately, I pretty much completely ran out by the end of February, and concealer is essential to my routine so I had to replace it immediately. I no longer want to support KVD but there wasn’t really any concealers I’ve been wanting to try, so I went back to an old favourite – the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. No regrets on buying this, becasue it is wonderful!
Bobbi Brown Crushed Liquid Lipstick – $34
While I was at Sephora picking up the NARS concealer, I decided to bite the bullet and pick up one of the Bobbi Brown Crushed Liquid Lipsticks. This one is in the shade Give a Fig. This marks the last lipstick I am going to buy for what I imagine will be quite a while, as I’ve put myself on a one-in-one-out policy for lipsticks!
Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup – $25
I am getting very low on the foundation I’m currently using, but similar to the concealer, I figured I would be able to make it last until the upcoming VIB sale to pick up a new one. I had my eyes on the YSL Touche Eclat foundation for the sale, but then I saw that the Naked Skin foundation was only half price as part of their Weekly Wow sale recently. I’ve used this foundation before (my review is here) and I quite enjoyed it; even though I wanted to try a new foundation, I couldn’t resist the good deal! I still haven’t finished my current foundation, but this will be ready for me when I’m done!
And that is it for my March haul! Did you buy anything cool in March?
