April to June Empties

Hi friends! It’s the end of another quarter, which means I’m sharing all my empties from the last three months! As per usual, I only finished a small handful of products, although now I’m looking at all my empties grouped together, I realize I seem to have thrown a handful of empties out without putting them in my empties bag! I guess it’s a habit to throw things away once they’re finished, right? Anyways, let’s continue on to see what I’ve used up and whether I would repurchase it!

The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2%

It felt like forever, but I finally finished this vitamin C serum. I mentioned it in my review here that I liked the effects of this Vitamin C, but didn’t like the gritty consistency of this. I originally wanted to purchase another TO Vitamin C product to replace this, but there wasn’t really anything that appealed to me. I won’t be repurchasing this, but eventually I might try another Vitamin C product from them.

Shiseido Perfect Cleansing Oil

This is a deluxe sample I got in a GWP set at the Shiseido counter a while back. I used this cleansing oil after finishing up the Farmacy Green Clean Meltaway Cleansing Balm before I could pick up another tub. I used to dislike this cleansing oil, but I feel like I’ve changed my mind about it now. It’s gentle, emollient, and really melted all of my makeup off. I’ll keep using these if they come in GWP sets, but I don’t think I would purchase a full size of this. There are tons of oil cleansers I want to try!

Bath & Body Works Peach & Honey Almond Shea Moisture Body Scrub

I’ve had this body scrub in my stash for a VERY long time and just never used it. I bought multiples of this scrub and this was the last one I had in my collection. I really like it – it’s very scrubby and smells nice, kind of a warm, homey scent. My skin feels silky smooth after using it, with no weird film left over after I rinse it off. Unfortunately, I believe Bath & Body Works only released this for one season, so I can’t buy it again even if I wanted to.

Delectable Ultra Nourishing Hand Cream in Strawberries & Cream

I kept this hand cream on my bedside table and used it every night before going to bed. I’ve used many Delectable hand creams now, and keep going back to them. The consistency is thick and moisturizing, without being greasy or feeling too heavy. I also loved this scent. It smells exactly like strawberries and cream!

Delectable Ultra Nourishing Hand Cream in Snow Sugar

This is a travel sized version of the Delectable creams, which I keep in my purse. The quality is consistent with all of the other Delectable hand creams I’ve tried. This was also a lovely scent, although I’m not sure what the scent is. “Snow Sugar” doesn’t really tell you what it’s supposed to smell like, right?

Quo Nail Polish Remover

I have no rhyme or reason to choosing nail polish removers, and tend to pick up whatever nail polish remover I can get my hands off while I’m grocery shopping. To be honest, I don’t have that much to say about this nail polish remover because most of them just get the job done, and this one is no different. I would buy this again.

IGK Beach Club Texture Spray

I’ve raved about this texture spray many times, but I have to say it again, I really love this one. My issue with curling my hair is that the individual curls tend to clump together into one big clump when I don’t put any product in it. This texture spray helps give my hair a lot of texture and grit without feeling sticky or messy, which helps separate my curls. It smells nice, and the nozzle also sprays very evenly. I do want to try other texture sprays for now, but I think I might go back to this eventually.

I managed to finish up three makeup products in the last three months, which is so unlike me.

Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer Creme

Back when I was still using Kat Von D, I bought this concealer in another shade but realized it wasn’t a good colour match, so I started using it as an eyeshadow primer. I then bought this shade to replace it as a concealer. It’s quite a good concealer for spot concealing since it’s so thick and full coverage, but since I no longer use Kat Von D products, I won’t be rebuying it.

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation

I purchased this during last year’s spring VIB sale, and it took me almost an entire year to finish it off! I thought this foundation was just okay, but I wouldn’t buy it again. I did a review of this foundation here.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Paaarty

I featured this blush in last year’s Project Pan, and I was SO CLOSE to finishing it up but never quite got there. I put this in last month’s Makeup Focus in hopes of finishing the rest, and my mission was accomplished. To be honest, I’m very proud of my self, haha. It takes SO LONG to be able to finish up a blush, even a mini! I seriously love this shade, but there are so many blushes I want to try. I don’t think I’ll

That’s it for my empties posts! Now that I’m going through everything, I realized there were lots of products I wouldn’t repurchase, haha. What did you finish up recently that you’re super proud of?

  1. I have that Ordinary vitamin C serum waiting to be used. I was starting off gentle and then building up to it. I’ve heard it has a gritty texture from many people including you, so I wonder how I’ll put up with it!

If I may, I wanna recommend The Ordinary vitamin C serums I like/use:

Ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate 20% in Vitamin F…this is what I began with as it’s best for someone “new” to vitamin C, but I’d really recommend it to anybody. It made an amaaazing change in my complexion in terms of brightness and it was very easy to apply, just an oily serum. Absorbs pretty fast and all that.

Currently I’m using their ascorbic acid 8% + AA and it’s just fine. Maintaining that brightness that originally came from the Vit F formulation. Still unsure if I’d recommend it….tbh I think I’d go back to the Vit F formulation.

Sorry for the GIANT comment, I just love TO’s vit C stuff, changed my skin!!

    • I mixed the Vit C Suspension with a hyaluronic serum, and that really helped with the grittiness. That being said, I don’t know if mixing them decreases the effectiveness of the vitamin C…

Awesome, thanks SO much for the recommendations! I think the Ascorbic Acid 8% was one that I had my eye on, but I didn’t know if the 8% would be strong enough considering my skin was used to the 23% from the Suspension serum. Like you said, it’s probably best for maintaining brightness, and I might get it once I feel like I just need to maintain my skin!

Thank you for recommending the Ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate 20% in Vitamin F as well! That one was super appealing to me because of the light oil format, BUT I didn’t end up getting it because I read on the website that it’s a Vit C derivative and therefore not as potent as pure ascorbic acid. I’m really glad to hear you found it to have amazing effects on your skin! I think I’ll pick this one up next after finishing my current Vitamin C.

Thanks again for the recommendations, they are super helpful!

      • I didn’t think the Vit F formulation would be too strong either but it truly did some amazing things!

Also I think mixing hyaluronic acid with something heavy like that might end up just decreasing the hyaluronic acid’s effectiveness (so like, not as moisturizing, I guess).

No problem!! Lookin forward to reading more of your posts 🙂

  2. The blush looks so pretty, minis can be such good value because you still get a lot of uses out of them! Those Delectable hand creams sound lovely 😊 well done on everything you finished up!

  3. I hate when a B&BW scent I love is only seasonal. I feel that way about Cucumber Melon which is only around for the semi-annual sale now. And the Pumpkin Pecan Waffles candle! I’m too scared to burn mine anymore because I can’t replace it 😦

Snow Sugar sounds like a lovely name but your right, I have no idea what that would smell like just from reading the name. I love delectable creams though, I have the lemon one on my end table right now 🙂

Good job on finishing not only that blush but a foundation and concealer too! Yay!

    • Did you get a hold of the Cucumber Melon scent during the recent semi-annual sale?! You’re right, it’s especially sad because you never know if they’re going to bring back a seasonal scent or discontinue it!

I just realized that neither real snow or sugar smell like anything LOL. I don’t even know how to describe the scent of the cream, either! The lemon one is the only one I have left unopened, but I did cheat and give it a sniff, and it smells so perfect for the summer!

Thank you! I always feel so accomplished when I finish makeup haha, they take forever to use up!

      • I didn’t no! I almost bought it but I decided I shouldn’t because I have 4 other shower gels that are mostly full in our bathroom.

Haha yeah they really don’t! I guess it’s supposed to smell like it tastes? Though snow doesn’t have a taste either… 🧐 I think you’ll love the lemon one!
Me too! I have to start really focusing on specific products so I can use things up.
