5 Favourite Fall Nail Polishes

Hi everyone! It’s seriously been a hot minute since I’ve written a post. I have been super busy with my new role at work, and on top of that, I was away for a week and a half in Europe. I did have a few blog posts prepared for while I was on vacation, but I was so busy the few days leading up to the trip that I realized I was missing a few elements and couldn’t post them!

Anyways, now that fall has finally begun, today I wanted to share a post all about my favourite nail polishes for fall. Although fall is not my favourite season, I really love fall nail shades. The jewel tones and darker shades tend to work really well with my skin tone! I feel like I have a good mix of brands this time around as well. Read on for my picks!

Citrine is a shade from Cirque Colors’ new Facets collection, and I knew I had to have it the first time I saw it on social media. I originally bought this shade for the summer because it’s a bright summery tangerine shade in a jelly finish with holographic flakies. It’s lovely for the summer, but I think it works better as a fall polish. This golden yellow reminds me of sunflowers, and makes me want to go to the pumpkin patch while drinking some PSL (or something). Like most holo polishes, this looks the best in direct light to really showcase the holographic element of the polish. Because it’s a jelly finish, it takes a few more layers than usual. This photo shows the polish worn with 3 layers.

This is an old Essie shade (it’s from the Fall 2013 collection), which you can tell from the old Essie packaging without the white print on the side of the bottle. Although it’s an old shade, it’s a good one. Vested Interest is a deep teal in a creme finish. Teal tends to be a summer colour, but Vested Interest has a cool grey undertone and is on the darker side, both of which makes it a fitting shade for the fall season. It’s a gorgeous formula, as well – smooth and pigmented, two coats and it is fully opaque.

This shade right here is fall in a bottle. I bought this polish in the spring, so it’s my first autumn being able to wear this shade, and I am SO in love with it! Cross My Heart is a mulberry shade in a jelly finish, scattered with holographic flakies that flash orange and green. Again, this looks brilliant in direct light, where the flakies really shine. This shade reminds me of autumn leaves! Like with other jelly finishes, this is a little more sheer, and it takes 3 coats to cover the nail line.

Nudes are a good choice for any time of the year, but I love going for deeper nudes during the fall. Zoya’s The shade Madeline from Zoya is a gorgeous medium mauvey-nude in a creme finish. It is such a classy shade! What I love about Zoya’s neutral palettes is how opaque they are. Madeline is wearable in one coat, but I do prefer to use two coats just to be safe.

If you are a long-time reader of my blog, you will have been me talk about this shade many times. But this shade to me is quintessentially fall, so I can’t not mention it when I talk about my favourite fall polishes. Save the Date is a deep berry with berry microshimmers running through it. It’s a gorgeous jewel toned polish that I think would look beautiful with many skin tones. This shade is opaque in two coats. Another huge plus? This is super affordable!

That’s it for my fall nail polish faves! What nail polishes are you loving for fall?

  1. All of the shades are so beautiful! I love the orange shade – I think that’s definitely a showstopper for sure. I also love the Zoya shade – their formula looks great! I am currently nail polish free at the moment but hoping to get my nails done a few days prior to attending my best friend’s wedding at the end of the month. 🙂 I am thinking to go for a gray shade but not sure yet! (The bridesmaid dress is burgundy – any suggestions?)

P.S. Do you match your polish to your outfits at all? Or just to season?

    • I agree the orange is a showstopper -it’s such a unique shade too! Haha, I never match my polish to my outfits unless it’s for a special occasion, although that makes more sense than matching it to the season! Sometimes my nail polishes clash horribly with my outfits LOL.

Oooh, gray with burgundy would look beautiful. Or I think a warm nude would work really well too? Burgundy bridesmaid dresses are so beautiful for the fall!

      • I guess because I sort of had a warm nude for my last nail colour, I wanted to stray away from that. I’ll have a think about it. 🙂 Thanks for your help though! ❤

  2. Excellent choices for fall! My favorite of these is Cirque Colors Citrine. I’m still loving lots of polishes from last year’s collections – Essie Say It Ain’t Soho, China Glaze Mustard the Courage and Central Parka, and Dior Sulphurous are my favorites. This year I got Essie Rust-Worthy, Easily Suede and Sweater Weather and OPI Boys Be Thistling At Me. Summer is my favorite season but fall has my favorite makeup and nail shades!
