Hello, my friends! Today, I’m sharing with you my product empties from the past six months. I’m posting this super late at three week into the new year, but there were other blog posts I wanted to get out first. I was supposed to get an empties post up every three months last year, but I skipped September’s because I was too busy to get an empties post up at the time, which means today’s is September and December’s posts combined. To be honest, I didn’t really finish much the last six months…but they were a pretty good mix of makeup, skincare, and haircare!
Ouai Texturizing Hair Spray
I’ve tried my fair share of texturizing sprays because they’re an essential part of my hair-curling routine. As far as texturizing sprays go, this one has decent grit and works pretty well in separating my curls, but I find some of the Ouai scents to be hit and miss for me. This one uses the Ouai No. 3 fragrance, which I find too overpowering and grandma-ish.
Ouai Leave In Conditioner
After using leave-in conditioners for over a decade, I’ve become somewhat of a leave-in conditioner connoisseur. This one from Ouai has the North Bondi scent and smells lovely (albeit a bit strong for my taste) and is very moisturizing. However, it’s one of the more expensive leave-in conditioners I’ve used ($34 for 148mL), and I don’t think it’s worth the price. It’s expensive considering how much you get, and the performance isn’t significantly better than other brands I’ve tried.
ColourPop Boss Brow
I try not to use brow pencils too often because I go through them like water. However, they’re also the easiest to use, so I do use them every so often, particularly when I’m lazy. I really enjoyed this brow pencil – it’s soft and easily adds colour to the brows, without being TOO pigmented that you easily go overboard. I’m currently using ColourPop’s other pencil, the Precision Brow Pencil, and I personally find it a lot fussier to use than the Boss Brow. I will probably repurchase another Boss Brow or two in my next ColourPop order.
L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise (2)
Once I find a mascara that I like, I don’t stray far from it too often. The Lash Paradise has been my favourite mascara in the last two years, and it shows – I’ve used up so many tubes! I finished one in Q3 and one in Q4.
Lululun Face Masks (x7)
I purchased this in Japan at the end of 2018, but didn’t get to using this until late summer. This is a pack that contains seven sheet masks, and you’re supposed to use it for seven days in a row. I feel pretty indifferent to sheet masks, to be honest. I enjoy they way they make my skin feel right after using them, but don’t find they have long-term results. After a week of using the Lululun masks, I did feel like my skin was more hydrated. However, I don’t know if I could afford the money (or time) to do a sheet mask every single day in the long run, and I suspect that doing them once a week wouldn’t let me see long-lasting results.
Belif The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb
I purchased this moisturizer during April’s Sephora VIB sale, and fell in love with how hydrating it was for my dry skin. I switched to a different moisturizer after finishing this one, and my skin became so dry. I don’t know if the dryness was caused by the new moisturizer, or if my skin was just getting dry and the moisturizer didn’t help. Either way, after an entire week a a half of bad skin, I had to go run out to Sephora to repurchase this (without a discount!), and I saw my skin start to improve within a week!

The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
To be honest, I’m not sure when I finished this – I found the empty jar on my shelf near the end of 2019! I made a foray into The Ordinary products in 2018, and this one was a real straggler in terms of trying to finish it up. I felt like this did absolutely nothing for my skin, so it was difficult for me to want to reach for it regularly.
Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask in Grapefruit
I still have three minis and one full sized Laneige lip mask to get through, so I’m really happy I’ve finally finished ONE mini after using it for an entire year. These lip masks are SO good – I apply them right before bed every night, and find that it feels nice and hydrating when they are on. I often wake up and still feel a light layer of this on my lips, but it doesn’t feel waxy. I also love citrus scents, so I really like the grapefruit one in particular.
Lush Sugar Plum Lip Scrub
I have a confession, this lip scrub was part of the Holiday 2017 release, and I think it expired early 2019, but I didn’t finish it until the middle of the year. I’m sure it’s okay – it’s pretty much just sugar and oil, isn’t it? The scent and taste didn’t seem to go off, either. I don’t really like most of the Lush lip scrub scents, but this one, which is supposed to smell like blackcurrant, is great.
The Body Shop Pinita Colada Body Butter
I bought this in 2018, but saved to use for summer 2019. The scent of this is amazingggg and will make you smell like a walking beach vacation. The formula was thinner and liquidy than the usual TBS Body Butters though, so I don’t know what that was about.
The Body Shop Vineyard Peach
I love peach anything and this was no exception! This had the usual thick body butter formula, too.
Bath and Body Works Grapefruit Breeze Sea & Vitamin E Shower Gel
Bath and Body Works shower gels are an absolute staple in my shower routine – I don’t even know how many I’ve gone through over the years. Citrus scented shower gels, and body products in general, are my favourite, so this one is right up my jam.
Delectable Ultra Nourishing Hand Cream in Vanilla and Cream
Delectable is a Canadian brand, and their hand creams are possibly one of the brand’s most well-known products – for good reason. Hand creams are a necessity around this time on year, and Delectable’s are especially moisturizing. I normally don’t mind vanilla scents, but I really didn’t enjoy this scent, which smells like very synthetic vanilla.
Muji Cut Cotton
My blogging friend Stashy sent these to me, I think it was in 2018. We were both addicted to the Shiseido Cotton, which is very expensive, and the Muji cut cotton is a very affordable dupe. Stashy knows we don’t have a Muji in Calgary so I can’t get my hands on this, and she was nice enough to send this to me. I love these so much that I hauled another pack of these all the way from London back home, hahah!

It’s quite a coincidence that I have this in my empties, because Stashy also turned me onto this product! I’ve used so many of these by this time, and I keep going back to them because they’re so good.
Youth to the People Kale & Green Tea Spinach Vitamins Superfood Face Wash (x2)
This is SO hyped up, so I was really excited to get samples of this. But it doesn’t do anything for my skin, and I even used up two packets (I have no idea where the second packet went…) I feel like maybe these foil packets don’t have enough product to give you an idea of how well a product works.
Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask
I’m going to be honest, I have no idea how to use this. It’s a mask, so you’re supposed to leave this in your hair for 20 minutes…but I don’t want to stand in the shower for 20 minutes, naked and cold, waiting for this to work its magic before rinsing it out. I ended up washing this out after a few minutes, which probably defeats the purpose.
Verb Mild & Color Safe + Cleanse Hydrating Shampoo
It’s hard to get a feel for haircare when it’s in a foil packet that lasts one use, but I felt like this was a pretty run-of-the mill shampoo – not bad, but not particularly memorable either. Obviously I wasn’t able to use it long enough to see if it protects colour-treated hair well.
Purchase full size? Maybe
Verb Enrich & Restore & Soften Hydrating Conditioner
While the hydrating shampoo was forgettable, I actually remember being this conditioner being quite creamy and hydrating without weighing down the hair. I would definitely considering trying the full size of this.

Verb Ghost Conditioner
While I love a lot of Verb’s products from their Ghost line, I remember this being fairly light and not really hydrating enough for my hair.
