What’s in My Gym Makeup Bag

Hello, my friends! Today, I’m sharing with you all the products I keep in my gym makeup bag. I meant to put this up in December, but ended up running out of time to finish the post. I think it worked out well though, considering the gym is always a trending topic in January with everyone making “I want to get in shape” new years resolutions!

I tend to work out in the middle of the work day around 2:30pm when the gym in our office building is empty. While I’ll rinse my body in the shower quickly afterwards to get rid of the sweat, it’s not reasonable to wash my hair and face as well. I’d have to blowdry my hair and redo my makeup all over again. I’d be gone from my office for at least 2 hours, one to work out and one to get ready!

However, when I take an intense class at lunchtime (like HIIT), I sweat enough that I have to wash my face, because I’m worried I’ll break out from the sweat. I usually avoid my eye area so that I don’t have to redo that all over again, but I’ll wash around it (my forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin). The eyes take the most time, and because I don’t have to redo them, it only takes an 5 minutes to redo my face makeup, which is something I can spare. However, this means that I do have to keep some makeup in my gym bag. In today’s post, I’m sharing with you all of the hair and face products that I keep in there!

I keep some of my top-notch products in my makeup bag, particularly ones that are super easy and quick to use. I keep this makeup bag at work because I don’t see the point of bringing it home every night just to bring it back to work the next day. Even though these are some of my favourite products in my collection, I have so much makeup at home that I have plenty to use without missing these TOO much.

Sydney-Grace-Makeup-Bag

Makeup Bag

I’m currently using a makeup bag that I received from a Sydney Grace mystery bag purchase. It’s quite sturdy and the material it is made out of holds itself up without being too stiff. A find a lot of makeup bags either too big or too small, but this one is the perfect size too.

Hairbands

These are a must-have in every gym bag, particularly if you have long hair. You don’t want your hair in your face and distracting you while you’re working out! One time, I didn’t have any hairbands in my bag because I have a tendency to put them around my wrist after a workout and accidentally take it home, and it sucked having to go through a class with my hair flying around all over the place.

Gym-Bag-Makeup

Verb Dry Shampoo

This is the one product that gets used the most out of everything in my gym makeup bag, because as I mentioned before, I don’t always redo my makeup. I also don’t wash my hair, so I use dry shampoo after every gym session to tide me over for the rest of the day until I can get home to shower! Normally, I’m a dry shampoo hater – my hair still feels greasy after using them. This has probably been the best dry shampoo that I’ve tried thus far. It comes in a bottle form where you shake the powder out from the tip of the applicator, so you can get it into very precise places at the root of your hair. I find that this actually feels like it’s absorbing the oils from my scalp, so it’s a winner for me.

Travel Tangle Teezer

I bought this Tangle Teezer a few years ago, and then I “lost” it after coming home from vacation (I had just forgotten to taken it out of my suitcase), so I went to go buy another one. Then I found my original one in my suitcase, which rendered it useless because I didn’t need two Tangle Teezers. I ended up keeping my original one in my travel bag and the new one for every day use at home, but now it has found a home in my gym makeup bag, where it’s much more useful than sitting in my travel storage all year, waiting to be used!

Belif The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb

On those rare days where I do wash my face, I don’t do my full skincare routine – that comes after I shower at home in the evening! However, I feel like I can’t skip the basic step of moisturizing. Although I use the Belif Moisturizing Bomb at home on a daily basis, this is a deluxe sample size that I continue filling up with the original size from home!

Gym-Bag-Makeup-Foundation-Setting-Spray

Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup

I used to love this foundation a few years ago, but when I bought another bottle while it was on sale earlier last year, the formula felt different a lot more drying. I’m not sure if they changed the formula! I kind of cast it aside for a while, but on days I need to redo my makeup after the gym, I need to lay down some foundation quickly with my fingers. I decided to keep this one in my gym makeup bag. Even though it’s not my favourite, I only need to wear it for 2-3 more hours to get me through the rest of the day, and this one gets the job done.

MAC Fix+ Setting Spray

I use the Fix+ to help my foundation settle better into my skin better, particularly as I mentioned above, the UD foundation doesn’t sit as well on the skin as how I remember it. I love this white tea scent because it smells super refreshing, which is greatly appreciated after a hard gym session.

Gym-Bag-Makeup-Bronzer-Blush-Highlighter

Hourglass Vanish Highlighter in Rose Gold Flash

What I love about this hughlighter is how natural yet glowy it looks; not only that, but it’s so easy to apply – one swipe on the cheekbones and then blending it out with the fingers, and voila!

Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer

I would have preferred to keep a stick cream bronzer in my bag because I could just blend out with my fingers , but since I don’t have one, I decided to put my favourite bronzer in my makeup bag instead. I apply this super quickly to add a little bit of dimension back into my face.

Glossier Cloud Paint in Beam

I keep this liquid blush in my bag because it is just SO DANG EASY to use, and I particularly love it because it doesn’t require a brush – it’s like the Hourglass highlighter – just pat it on the cheeks and it gives a natural, flushed look!

Just a note, there are a few other things I don’t include in my gym bag but might be something you want to include.

  1. Deodorant – I apply this in the morning before, so I don’t feel like I really need this in my bag. I don’t sweat much unless I’m working out
  2. Shower Gel/Shampoo/Conditioner – If you wash your face or take a shower, you’re going to be needing these. The gym at my workplace provides these three things for us, provided by a local brand. Their stuff is really nice!

That’s it for today! What are some necessities in your gym makeup bag?

  1. Out of interest, what shade is your Butter Bronzer? I managed to nab my hands on one last weekend!!! I’ve only swatched it so far but I’m hoping to try it out this weekend (I got Sunkissed – I felt like light would be too light on me but I could be wrong.)

You pretty much explained why I don’t tend to work out in the afternoon times. I just don’t have the time or capacity to clean my face let alone re-do my makeup afterwards. Weekends, it’s much easier. On evenings, I still workout with makeup on but usually I’ll be showering either straight after or an hour after so it’s not an issue for me then.

    What’s your go-to sweat-proof mascara?
