Happy Valentine’s Day, my friends! Are you doing anything to celebrate the occasion? However you choose to celebrate (or not celebrate) Valentine’s Day, I hope it is a good day, full of love with your loved ones – whether it’s with a significant other, with family, or with your Galentines.
I am not big on Valentine’s Day myself, but the holiday still makes me want to overdose on all things pink (and also overdosing on dessert!) To celebrate Valentine’s Day, I wanted to share with you my favourite pink makeup products. I don’t actually own a lot of pink makeup. For the longest time, I avoided pink – it’s a tricky colour to wear, because you really have to find the right shade for your skin tone. I tried to keep the products in this post strictly to pink products, and not incorporate peaches. Read on for all my faves!
Sydney Grace Eyeshadow in Golden Rose
I have to tell you that I am not a fan of pink eyeshadows – they make me look like I have pink eye! With that being said, I bought Golden Rose thinking it would be a lot peachier, but ended up really love the shade. It’s a rose pink with a gold shift to it, making it lean warm and thus making it look less eye infection-y. I don’t wear this all over the lid because I think it would be too red for my tastes, but I enjoy placing it on the inner third of the eye in my pink halo looks.
MAC Lipstick in Craving
I’ve mentioned Craving in the past, but it’s honestly too beautiful a lipstick not to mention. As I said before, I find it difficult to find the right pink for my skintone, but this shade is so perfect on my complexion. It’s a cool-toned medium plummy pink that’s not too milky, not too vampy, and not too light but not too dark either. I also love MAC’s Amplified Creme lipstick formula, which is so creamy and comfortable to wear.
Becca Glow Gloss in Snapdragon
I recently talked about the Becca glosses in my Products I Bought on Sale – Would I Buy It Again? blog post, and I mentioned that I was over the moon about discovering these glosses while it was on sale. I don’t own another pink gloss, and this is a happy addition to my collection – they make my lips look so juicy! Snapdragon is a fairly opaque shade that mostly covers the natural pigment of my lips, and the gloss contains beautiful subtle microshimmers.
Milani Baked Blush in Dolce Pink
I don’t actually own a ton of pink blushes, because I tend to go for mauves and peaches. Dolce Pink is an important member of my collection, though – even though it’s not my typical go-to shade, I always find myself reaching for it. Dolce Pink is a pink blush with golden microshimmers, giving the most beautiful glow to the cheeks. I love pairing this blush with a cool-toned eye look.
Sydney Grace Blush in Ballet Slippers
In the swatches below, you’ll see that this is a lot more peachy compared to the rest of the products on my list, but in my defense, it looks like a true pink (albeit a warmer pink) in the pan! I thought I would include it anyways, for people who prefer nudey pinks. The Sydney Grace blushes have a powdery formulation that gives high cover payoff. I’ve fallen hard for this shade in particular – it kind of goes with every look!
Glossier Cloud Paint in Puff
I didn’t realize I chose three blushes until I started writing my blog post, but I guess it makes sense considering pinks are most often found in blushes and lipsticks. I own all of the Cloud Paints now, but Puff was one of the last ones I bought. I didn’t think the shade would suit my skintone – right out of the tube, it looks like a milky cool-toned Barbie pink and looks kind of scary. However, as you can see in the swatch, it dries down to a beautiful warm pink that gives my cheeks a healthy tint.
Hourglass Vanish Flash Highlighting Stick in Rose Gold
You’ll be hard-pressed to find a true pink highlighter – this is probably one of the closest in my collection, at least. I’ve mentioned several times how much I love the Hourglass Vanish Flash highlighter formula. It has an interesting cream-to-powder formula, and looks natural on the cheekbones, yet glowy at the same time.
Zoya Nail Polish in Maryann
I own a LOT of pink nail polishes, and this one is one of my faves. Maryann is a true rose in a pearl finish. I call it one of my “mom shades” (ie a shade my mom would wear), which is a compliment, because I always feel classy wearing it. I wear nail polish shades of all types, but always reach for Maryann when I want something a little different from the typical go-to nude pinks, without it looking too wild.
Here’s a swatch of all my favourite pink products. I truly love all of these! Let me know in the comments what your favourite pink product is!
