Products I Regret Not Buying

Hi friends! A while back, I talked about some of the products that I regret buying. Today,  I wanted to share all the makeup products I regret not buying. These items were either limited edition or discontinued, so I can no longer get them anymore. It’s kinda funny because when these were available, I felt like I wasn’t really interested in them – but now that they’re gone, I want these?! Anyways, read on to see what products I am missing in my collection!

Anastasia Beverly Hills x Amrezy Highlighter

This highlighter never really appealed to me when it was first released, because I felt like I already owned a lot of champagne highlighters. Even when it was re-released again, I didn’t have much of an interest in it at all. Once it was gone forever, however, I suddenly wanted it. I definitely would have snatched it up if ABH re-released this with the Amrezy palette at the end of 2019 (or was it at the beginning of this year?), but unfortunately, they did not re-release it with the palette. I feel like that was a missed opportunity!

ColourPop-Dream-Street

ColourPop x Kathleen Lights Dream Street Palette

I have zero interest in this palette when it was available, because I felt like this was just a neutral palette with random pops of blue, which I wouldn’t reach for anyways. But now that it’s gone…I want it? So many people rave about how this is one of their favourite ColourPop palettes, and I kind of want to know what the fuss is about! Also, I’ve loved a lot of products that Kathleen Lights has released with ColourPop, so I have no doubts that the quality of this palette must be amazing.

Becca-Fall-2017-Light-Chaser-Highlighter-4

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Lightchaser Pressed Highlighters

Becca released these Lightchaser highlighters in their pressed format, which are different to their regular highlighters as these had duochrome finishes. I found a blog called Potpourri of Whatever that has swatches of them all! I realized these were being discontinued when I saw them on sale, but I was too late as they disappeared too quickly for me to pick any up. There were a handful of shades that looked appealing to me. They also had corresponding Glow Gloss shades, which have also been discontinued. At the time, I hadn’t tried their Glow Gloss formula, but knowing what I know now (which is that I love them), I kind of wish I picked up every single shade of those!

Marc Jacobs Beauty See-quins Glitter Eyeshadow Swatches

I believe Marc Jacobs first released these during Holidays 2018, but I didn’t realize until after that they were limited edition. These are stunning, pigmented pots of glitter that I really wish I had in my life. I believe they did release a few more during the Holidays 2019 season, but they were all dark, smokey shades I wouldn’t get much use out of. Bring the wearable shades back, Marc Jacobs! My wallet and I will be there!

Hourglass Illume Sheer Trio

I saw so many people raving about this trio since 2018, but it was always constantly sold out everywhere that sold Hourglass. I don’t think Hourglass ever outright said this was limited edition, but I’ve never seen it available, which makes me convinced this was either limited-edition or discontinued (they have since taken this product off all websites). The way that Sam Ravndahl describes these just make them sound sooo creamy and glowy, and I’m crying that I couldn’t get my hands on this. Hourglass – bring, this back, pleeeease?

Illamasqua Nail Varnish

Illamasqua is a brand that some people may not even have heard of – they actually used to be sold at Sephora once upon a time! These days, i’s a tough brand to get your hands on in North America in general, as they pulled out of the continent maybe six or so years ago, but I think the brand actually discontinued their nail polishes since. There were a bunch of unique shades I wanted to try, including Raindrops, Melange, and Facet. I should have snagged these up while I still could, but now there’s no chance I’ll be able to get them!

That’s it for the things that I wish had purchased before they were discontinued! Let me know in the comments what previous releases that you now regret never picking up!

  1. I’m so sad that the Dream St. Palette was discontinued. But you never know with ColourPop, they could bring it back. The She palette was supposed to be discontinued and they’ve brought it back twice already!
The Amrezy highlighter is stunning, I wish I had got it too.
I had no idea that Illamasqua used to be sold at Sephora. I’ve only ever tried their products through subscription boxes like Ipsy or Look Fantastic. It’s too bad, they have nice products!

On the bright side there will always be more makeup releases coming out!

  2. Amrezy does look like a pretty highlighter, hope you manage to get your hands on it someday! Those Becca highlighters look really pretty too! I don’t think I’ve heard anything negative about the Dream Street palette, everyone I’ve seen talk about it loves it. It seemed popular too, I wonder why it was discontinued…

    • Maybe it’s best it’s no longer available…I have one too many highlighters as it is!
I think the Dream St. palette was just discontinued because all of their collaborations are limited edition. It was actually around for quite a while, so it was my fault I didn’t pick it up when it was available!

  3. I looove the Dream Street palette. I’m not a fan of Kathleen Lights, but this palette was too pretty to pass up.

But I regret missing out on those Becca highlighters too. I had my eye on the Opal Flashes Jade one… hemmed and hawed over it and by the time I went to pull the trigger, it was sold out in store and online. I did get the gloss version though, which is very pretty.

  4. I’m totally with you on that Hourglass trio! I saw it in person several times when it was available and thought, oh it’s beautiful but it’s expensive and I don’t need it. But of course now I wish I had taken the plunge!

  5. Oh boy, as a collector (especially over so many years!) I can’t even tell you how many things I’ve missed out on and regret not buying. If it makes you feel better the Light Chaser glosses weren’t so great (too sheer for my taste) and same for Illamasqua Rain Drops – it needs 3 coats to have good coverage. I know though, it’s tough not to think about the ones that got away! The one that I regret most outside of collectibles was Pat McGrath 001.

    • Oh my gosh, you must have SO MANY things you regret not buying for your collection!! You know what, that actually DOES make me feel better that you say the glosses are sheer – now that I look at swatches again, you’re so right, sheer glosses aren’t up my alley either. That’s good to know about Raindrops. It’s true that it’s hard not to think about the ones that got away, but it helps to know that they’re underperforming and you’re not missing out on much. Pat McGrath 001 is a beautiful one, I can see why you regret not having it!

  6. While I have the amreezy palette, and really like it because it’s not just a champagne highlighter, I feel like it has some lighter gold reflects? I don’t know, but I’m so glad i purchased it. The one palette I got myself was the dream street palette! I really hope they bring it back, because it was one I always considered getting and now that it’s gone, i’m sad i didn’t snatch it up when I could. Great post xxx

  7. I’m not a nail polish person but the Illamasqua nail polishes WERE AMAZING! They’re one of the best I’ve tried hands down. I am so sad they discontinued their nail polishes because they are really top notch! I really wanted the Amrezy ABH Highlighter. It never made it to Thailand though 😦
