Hello my friends! It’s been a hot minute since I’ve come out with any blog posts. I’ve been over here enjoying my summer, not worried about creating content. For the first time since starting my blog, I haven’t felt guilty about taking a break. To be honest, I think it’s a sign that I’m ready to leave Instagram and blogging. But for now, I still have some content that I want to share, so I’m going to post when I want to and not feel any pressure to keep a consistent schedule.
Anyways, today I have an update of my Pan 20 in 2020 Project Pan. I made some slow but steady progress these last two months, and I’m pretty happy about it! Read on to see how I’ve been faring on my project pan.
Urban Decay Naked Palette
My goal for 2020 was to hit baby pan on three shades: Virgin, Smog, and Toasted. I hit pan on Virgin in February, Smog in April, and I hit pan on Toasted in June! Now that I hit baby pan on the three shades I wanted to hit pan on, I am officially done with this palette! I’m saving it for sentimental purposes.
Tarte Tartelette Palette
My goal for this palette was to hit pan on two shades, Dreamer and Wanderer. To my surprise, I saw the littlest of baby pans on Dreamer on the last week of June, just before I started writing my update! I was shocked by how deep the Tarte pans are. I do see a more pronounced dip in Wanderer, but I feel like I’m never going to be able to hit pan on it even though I use it 3-4 times a week!
Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette
This was a palette that I rotated into my project during my last update, when I finished some of the shades in the Naked palette. In the Sweet Peach palette, I’m trying to pan the shades White Peach and Candied Peach. It’s hard to tell from these photos, but I did make some tiny progress on both. Will I finish these by the end of the year? Doubtful at this point, but I’m sure going to keep trying!
Tarte Chrome Paint Shadow Pot in Frose
I had a love affair with coral/peaches this spring, and I wore this a ton! It doesn’t really show though – the dip is maybe the teeniest deeper than it was when I first added it to my project, but it probably doesn’t move the dial by much.
Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso
I used this so often these last two months, especially paired with the Tarte Chrome Paint Pot and the Becca gloss I’m sharing below for a peachy monochromatic look…so why does it look like I had less product in my first update than now?! Haha, it’s probably the angle. Despite being obsessed with peach right now, I’m finding it hard to want to use this because I’m SO into cream blushes during the summer, so I’m trying to rotate between this one and my cream blushes daily.
NARS Blush in Sin
Yeah…this blush was used maybe once in the last two months. Sin is such a fall/winter shade to me, so it doesn’t get pulled out much in the summer. In my defense, as I’m writing this post, I’m wearing this blush because it pares well with a mauve eye, which is what I’m sporting today! I’ll get more use out of this again come September, but I may not be able to pan it.
Tarte Pro Glow Palette Contour in Sculpt
I do a subtle contour every day, and you would think that with every day use, I would have hit pan by now, but apparently not! However, I’m starting to see a pretty apparent dip in this. Based on the depth of the Tarte eyeshadow pan, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to see pan by the end of the year, but I’m sure gonna keep trying!
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal
In this post, I’ve only included comparison photos between my first update in January and what it currently looks like, because there’s not enough room to fit four progress photos for each product! You can tell I’ve made a lot of progress in the last six months, BUT when I compare my photo to April’s shot (my last update), it kind of looks the same, even though I used it a ton. I feel like I might hit pan on this by this really soon, but it’s hard to tell…some products feel bottomless!
ColourPop Super Shock Highlighter in Flexitarian
I actually haven’t used Flexitarian much in the last two months. Metallic highlighters used to be my absolute jam, but lately I have been finding that I’m favouring a more subtle highlight. I’m sure there will come a day when I’m back on the metallic highlight train, but in the meantime, I’ll slowly chip away at this one in hopes of seeing some pan by the end of the year!
Becca Glow Gloss in Tigerlily
I used this a lot in the last two months, because it’s a summery colour that pairs perfectly with the Tarte Chrome Paint Pot and Milani blush that I also chose for my Project Pan. Sometimes it’s hard to tell if lip glosses are being used up – I was hoping I would be able to see it a little more empty on the sides, but I guess that I haven’t used it enough yet. I’ll definitely try to get the most out of Tigerlily for July and August while summer is still here!
Glossier Balm Dotcom in Coconut
There’s a pretty obvious change from the beginning of the year until now, but I kind of think there hasn’t been that much progress since my last update when I look back at my progress photos. I’m not sure why, considering I was less into lip colours and more into sheer glosses and lip balms since I was chilling at home for most of it. I do think that I will be able to use the tube up by the end of December though, as long as I continue working away at it.
MAC Lipstick in Twig
I only used this one or twice in the past two months – I find regular lipsticks a little too heavy for the summer, and I prefer this shade more for fall and spring anyway. Like the NARS Sin blush, I know I will be pulling it out more again once September comes – they actually pair really well together! Hopefully September-December will be enough time for me to polish this off.
ColourPop Just a Tint Lip Balm in Shaka
I’m pretty sad nobody (myself included) can see the progress on this one, at least not until the pencil is short enough for me to twist all the way up without me being worried it won’t go back down. Spring and summer is all about sheer lips for me, not to mention that I couldn’t handle the thought of wearing a full coverage lipstick while working from home (somehow wearing a fully done eye look at home is okay but an opaque lipstick is not #logic). This nude lip balm was everything I needed the last two months, with the added bonus that it goes with every eye look. It also smells like summer in a pencil, so no complaints from me over here.
Becca Backlight Priming Filter
You guys, after owning this for SO LONG, I am finally done with this primer! I have to admit it, I owned this for way too long, but the texture and scent didn’t change, so I think it was still fine to use. I even unscrewed the lid and tried to get as much product out, and the product clinging to the sides that I can’t reach is all that’s left.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette
This did not get used a lot, since I rarely used base makeup in May and June, and therefore had nothing to powder. This pandemic is really cramping my Project Pan style, man! I did start using it again when I emerged from my cave into the Wild Wild West (aka anywhere outside my house) closer to the end of June, but it’s not enough to make up for all the days I didn’t use it.
Verb Wave Spray
As I have mentioned in my previous updates, I only use the Wave Spray when I curl my hair. I’ve barely used this since the beginning of the year because I’ve barely styled my hair in any way in the last few months due to COVID, let alone put enough effort to curl it! I used this twice in the last two months, which is the exact amount of times we left the house to do something other than get groceries.
MAC Fix+
This didn’t get used a lot for the same reasons as the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette – I didn’t use this much in May and June as I simply didn’t use any base makeup in the last two months, and therefore didn’t have anything to set. I did use it to wet my brush for any of my more crumbly eyeshadows.
Farmacy Honeymoon Glow
This is skincare which I use regularly, COVID or no, so of course I’ve made pretty great progress on this! Definitely in line to finish this by the end of the year!
NEW PRODUCTS I’M ROTATING IN
So now that I have finished Toasted in the Naked palette and the Becca Backlight Priming Filter during this update, and I’m going to add two new products in. I don’t really have any non-eyeshadow products I want to finish up at the moment, so I’ve decided to continue trying to pan the Sweet Peach palette. I’m rotating Luscious and Charmed, I’m Sure into my project!
Pan count: 5/20
We’re halfway through the year and I’m only a quarter of the way through my goal of finishing 20, haha! I’m totally cool with this though. If I can only even finish 10 out of 20 products by the end of the year, it still means I saw baby pan 10 products that I wouldn’t have otherwise!
How are you doing on your Project Pan, if you are doing one?
That’s some great progress! I’m not really doing Project Pan, but I’m trying not to buy 100 new thing every 5 mins and love what’s in my collection

Honestly, at the end of the day that’s all that matters, that we’re consuming consciously and not buying things just because they’re shiny and new!

You are still making good progress and you can totally blame Covid for not getting through as much as you would have liked 😛 I feel like minimalism will be huge in 2021, people will realise how little they actually need and may be mindful of what they’re actually using and consuming.
It will be a sad day when you say goodbye to Instagram and blogging, will you be deleting/deactivating your accounts or leaving them viewable and just not updating them?

I totally agree with you that minimalism is going to be huge in 2021! This whole not being able to go shopping in physical stores has really made me realize how much I have vs what I actually use.
Aww you’re so sweet Chanelle, I’m definitely going to miss the interactions with people like you the most! I’ve actually never thought about deleting my accounts…I always figured I would just leave them up!

The Tarte Chrome Paint Shadow is gorgeous, I’d probably live in it all summer too ahahah I actually was able to finish Luminoso, it took me a few years and it was a few years ago but I did it, such a good one

Yes, Frose is THE perfect summer shade! A lot of those Chrome Paint Pots are, actually…they have a lot of bronzes and golds which give you that “bronzed goddess” look!
Omg props to you for finishing Luminoso, it’s a beast! It does not bode well for me that it took you a few years though, since I only started seriously using it in May and want to pan it by the end of the year hahah!
