Hi everyone! It’s seriously been a hot minute since I’ve written a post. I have been super busy with my new role at work, and on top of that, I was away for a week and a half in Europe. I did have a few blog posts prepared for while I was on vacation, but I was so busy the few days leading up to the trip that I realized I was missing a few elements and couldn’t post them!
Anyways, now that fall has finally begun, today I wanted to share a post all about my favourite nail polishes for fall. Although fall is not my favourite season, I really love fall nail shades. The jewel tones and darker shades tend to work really well with my skin tone! I feel like I have a good mix of brands this time around as well. Read on for my picks!
Hello, beauties! Today’s post is a list of my pastel nail polish picks for spring, which is an idea that came up in an Instagram challenge hosted by crystalsmakeup and rubiredlipstick, and I’ve just extended it to my blog. I’ve always loved pastel colours. This is the most random memory, but when I was a kid, we used to get these catalogues in the mail full of Easter/spring home decor, and I would spend hours poring over the pretty items with all the pastel colours, tulips, bunnies and Easter eggs, and ask my mom if we could buy stuff from the catalogues (the answer was always no). Despite loving pastels, I don’t own many pastel nail polishes, because they’re just not flattering on my skin tone. However, I’ve found some pretty good ones which I will be sharing in this post.
Before the Instagram challenge came up, I already had the idea to do a “My spring nail polishes picks for 2019” post. A few shades I had picked were not pastel, and I didn’t want to not mention them, so I’ve included them at the end of this post. Read on to see my spring polish picks!
In today’s blog post, I’m sharing my favourite makeup picks for the summer. I didn’t include skincare in this post because my skincare routine doesn’t change too significantly between seasons, but I did include some body care and hair care. I mentioned on Instagram a week or two ago that I’m all about fuchsia in the summer, so you’ll be seeing a lot of this particular shade in this post! Also, the good thing about including so many products in this shade is that I’ll use the word ‘fuchsia’ so many times in this post that by the end of the post, I’ll hopefully know how to properly spell the word without having to spell-check it 🤣
Spring is finally upon us! Usually try to live in the moment as much as possible, but this year, I’ve been anxiously waiting for it to become spring since January 1st and am so happy the weather is FINALLY starting to warm up (let’s ignore the fact that it’s forecasted to snow over Easter…)
I have to admit that I’m one of those people that changes my makeup depending on the season, and in the springtime, I ditch the vampy shades I’ve been wearing all winter. The more colourful makeup items resurface from the bottom of my collection, and in particular, you’ll see a lot of peachy shades in this post, which pretty much carry me from March to the end of August. Read on for my picks!
Today’s post is a combined haul and low-buy post for the month of April. The big event this month, as you all already know, was the Sephora VIB sale. I started this month off knowing that there wasn’t anything I was particularly excited about buying at Sephora. I went into the store 4 separate times for inspiration, and each time I left feeling uninspired!
Kat Von D Tattoo Liner
This is a constant in my Sephora VIB purchases for me – it’s my favourite liquid liner, and I always replenish my stash of these during the sales. I think this is my third (or fourth?!) one.
Today’s post is on the nail polish I’ve been wearing for the past week. I was due for a nail polish post because I haven’t done one in a quite a while, and this is also a polish that’s new to my collection and will appear in my April low-buy post at the end of the month. Until now, I actually had left my nails bare for the past 3 weeks, which is SO unlike me! My nails had been peeling a lot, so I wanted to give them a break.
While I would usually wear a pastel shade on my nails over Easter, I was in Las Vegas over the weekend with a girlfriend, and I cannot help but want to have bright nails every time I’m in Vegas. I realized right before our trip that during my nail polish decluttering, I had thrown away the nail polish I had in mind because it had become all gloppy and I just didn’t love it anymore, so I actually ended up buying another nail polish. A trip is a perfect excuse to own a new nail polish, am I right?
Today’s post is on the products I loved in the last half of 2016. Although most of these were not new releases in 2016, they were all products that came into my collection during the last half of the year. In case you’re interested, I did a 2016 mid-year favourites post here.
Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette
I received this palette in a giveaway from dear Robyn of Lipstick on the Lake in August, and I have been absolutely loving it since. It’s a very versatile palette, and is in constant rotation in my makeup routine. My review of the palette can be found here.
Today I wanted to talk about the shade I wore last week, which was Sexy Divide from Essie. I’ve heard many raves about this shade over the years, so I decided to buy it back in November. Sexy Divide is from Essie’s Dive Bar collection for New Years/Holidays 2011.
Today I wanted to share with you my November haul and how I did on my low-buy. Spoiler alert: I failed miserably in my low-buy!
Sephora VIB Haul
I only bought 5 things during the Sephora VIB sale, most of which were replenishments for things I’m running low on. In the last two years, I’ve become one of the people who shop at Sephora only during the bi-annual sales, and even then, I usually don’t go crazy. I went into more detail about my Sephora haul here.
Apologies for not posting regularly lately – things have been crazy. This post was supposed to go up on Tuesday, but time ran away from me!
I’ve found in the last two years that my taste in nail polishes has changed, and lately I’ve become very uninspired by the polishes I own. In an effort to minimize my nail polish collection and get rid of the ones I never use anymore, I decided to clean out my nail polish collection. Today I wanted to share with you all of the polishes I got rid of.
Deborah Lippmann Happily Ever After Set
I was given these polishes (Going to the Chapel, Something Blue, Endless Love) as a gift a few years ago. I thought this wedding-themed set was so cute. I wanted so much to love them, but the finish on these is so weird. They have a matte finish, but the polish itself contains a sheen. Sounds like a nice idea, but they made it look like I painted my nails with chalk, especially the white one. I tried these a few times, and even tried to put a topcoat on top to make it shiny instead of matte, but it just doesn’t work.
