Last week, Nicole from Pretty Ruff Life shared a blog post about her most repurchased products, and I thought it was such a great idea. Often, repurchased products tend to be holy grail status – it says a lot when makeup lovers buy the same things over and over again, especially when they’ve tried so many different products. It means that the ones that get repurchased are really top notch! I rarely buy products over and over again, so the fact that I’ve repurchased these means they’re really close to my heart.
Just as a note, I didn’t take my own photos for this blog post because I’m using a lot of new products this year and I don’t currently own a lot of these, but just because I don’t own it right now doesn’t mean I don’t love it or have bought a lot of them over the years. If I’m currently using something else right now, I will make a note of it.
One thing that I absolutely cannot skip in my makeup routine is concealing, because I just look so tired without it. Today’s post is a review of the Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer Crème, which I’ve been using every day for the past two months.
I’ve been a longtime user of the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, but after finishing my most recent tube of it, I made the decision to branch out and try something new. Besides the Radiant Creamy Concealer and the newer NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer, the Lock-It Concealer Crème is one of the more popular concealers at Sephora, so I decided to give it a chance. Read on to see what I thought of it!
I know I’m a month too late on this, but in today’s post, I wanted to talk about my empties that I used up from January to June. Unlike most people, I finish products at the speed of a snail – maybe because of my small face and small body? I don’t know. I am seriously surprised at how little I used in the first half of this year, but I think it was just because I wasn’t very concerned with beauty for a good chunk of the year so far. One of my goals for 2017 was to use up more products than I did last year, but it doesn’t look like that will be achieved! I suppose I don’t include things like shampoo and conditioner because I buy massive bottles that are too big to keep around after they are empty, but still. Either way, I still wanted to share the empties I have used up so far.
Although we’re already into the middle of January, today’s post is on my favourite products of 2016. This post focuses on my favourites in each makeup category, although there are a few categories that I did not include because I either did not try anything new in that category, or I didn’t find anything I loved during the year. A few of these products you will have also seen in my two bi-annual favourites posts.
Foundation Primer: Shiseido Glow Enhancing Primer
I discovered this primer in early 2016, and although I’ve only used up sample after sample of this primer, I’ve fallen in love with it. It goes onto the skin feeling like a moisturizer, and applies smoothly without giving that typical silicone feeling that a lot of primers do. It feels very hydrating on my dry skin, and I’m really glad I still have a few tubes of samples left of this before I need to start purchasing it!
Today’s post is on all of the items I used up from October to December, as well as a summary of my empties for the year. I was shocked at how few products I used up in the last last three months of the year, even compared to the usual small amount I tend to finish on a quarterly basis! I think it was because I was busy trying out so much new stuff, particularly in November and December, that I didn’t really end up using much 😛 I’ve been continuing to try using up my Shiseido samples, so you’ll see a lot of those in this post. My Q4 empties is pretty BORING, but I think my 2016 empties summary may be a little more interesting.
The Body Shop Satsuma Shower Gel and Grapefruit Body Butter
There’s not much to say about this except that as always, the Body Shop shower gels and body butters are constants in my empties. Satsuma and Grapefruit are two of my favourite scents from The Body Shop, too, so I will definitely pick up more of these as my collection of body care goes down (maybe in 2020).
Today I wanted to share with you my November haul and how I did on my low-buy. Spoiler alert: I failed miserably in my low-buy!
Sephora VIB Haul
I only bought 5 things during the Sephora VIB sale, most of which were replenishments for things I’m running low on. In the last two years, I’ve become one of the people who shop at Sephora only during the bi-annual sales, and even then, I usually don’t go crazy. I went into more detail about my Sephora haul here.
Today I wanted to share what I picked up during the Sephora VIB sale. Even though their November VIB sale is always Sephora’s best sale of the year, I didn’t go crazy with my purchases. I was good and pretty much stuck to my wish list! The majority were items in my collection that needed to be replaced, and only two were “want” items.
I bought most of the items online so that I could take advantage of Ebates, but before I made any purchases, I visited a physical store to do some browsing and see what else I wanted to buy. I’m not much of an online shopper, and am definitely someone who needs to swatch things in store before making a decision. The last time I purchased online during the VIB sale, I remember it taking forever. This time, I ordered on November 11th and received my items by November 17th – very fast!
Anastasia Beverly Hills Master Palette by Mario Palette
At the store, I saw that the Anastasia Master Palette by Mario palette was in stock. Since I had checked online before visiting the store and knew that this palette was sold out online, I took its availability in stores as a sign that I should buy it. Although the shades are pretty dupeable, they are right up my alley and I’m really excited I got my hands on this!
Today’s post is a haul/check-in of my 2016 low-buy. Originally, I had intended to post my Sephora haul last week, which did not end up happening. Since it’s now the end of the month, so I thought I might as well just lump my Sephora haul with the rest of my purchases and do my monthly low buy check-in post. I’ve gotten the chance to test out most of these products, so this post does include a brief first impressions of each product.
With the Sephora sale coming up this week, I thought I would share my wish list. Surprisingly, there aren’t a lot of things I want this time. Although I won’t be getting every single item in this list, I will definitely be picking from it!
