Autumn-Inspired Makeup Look

Even though summer is my favourite season in terms of weather, autumn is my favourite month in terms of makeup. While I basically wear the same makeup year-round (browns, golds, taupes), I tend to add a bit of reddish/cranberry shades to my eye looks during the fall. Today I wanted to share with you a makeup look I did recently. For these warmer looks, I always pull out my Urban Decay Naked palette (the original), although I did break out my In the Night palette from the brand W7 for the first time to get the cranberry colour I was looking for.

These were the products I used:

Transition shade: Urban Decay Naked
On the lid: Urban Decay Half-Baked
Middle of the lid: Urban Decay Toasted
Outer lid: W7 In the Night Palette – Laura E
Browbone/inner corner highlight: W7 In the Night Palette – Party Pooper
Eyeliner: Urban Decay 24/7 Pencil Liner in Zero
Eyelash curler: Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler
Mascara: CoverGirl Clump Crusher

Review and Swatches – Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette

Today’s post is a quick review of my thoughts on the Naked 2 palette, which I received in a generous giveaway from Robyn of Lipstick on the Lake. This post also includes swatches of each of the shades.

As most people know, Naked 2 is the palette with the cooler shades that lean more taupe/grey compared with Naked 1 and Naked 3. The shadows are housed in a tin case. While it feels sturdier and isn’t prone to collecting dust/fuzz like the packaging in Naked 1 (which is made of a felt-like material on the outside and cardboard on the inside), the Naked 1 is sleeker and not as clunky as the Naked 2.

It also comes with a dual-ended brush. It looks fairly decent, although I have to admit that I haven’t used it yet.

LipstickontheLake Giveaway Goodies

Recently, Robyn from Lipstickonthelake started self-hosting her blog, and she hosted a giveaway as a celebration. I was so pleased and surprised when she emailed me saying that I was the giveaway winner! Go check out Robyn’s blog if you aren’t already following it – not only is her blog now self-hosted, but she also just reached her one year blogging anniversary. Thank you for the generous giveaway, Robyn, and a big congratulations to you!

The prize for the giveaway was an Urban Decay Naked Palette of my choice. I already own the Naked 1 palette, which I absolutely love and is my fall-back palette on days I don’t know what to use. I was trying to decide between Naked 2 and 3, and ended up choosing Naked 2. As much as I love the pink/rosy shades in Naked 3, I have a feeling I’ll get more use out of the taupey shades in Naked 2, plus Robyn said that one was her favourite.

Anyways, today I just wanted to share some quick pics of what came in the mail! Swatches will come in a separate post at a later date 🙂
