Hello, everyone! Today I’m talking about the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipsticks, a review that is a long time coming. I never really hear anyone talking about these on social media, BUT these lipsticks have 1,000 reviews on the Sephora website with a rating of 4.5 stars, which means they are truly loved by a lot of beauty lovers! I’ve made it no secret on my Instagram that I am completely in love with these, but I’ve never done a detailed review of them before. They’re currently on sale at Sephora and have been for a while, so I want to let everyone know how great these are in case you want to get your hands on them!
I randomly tried these for the first time back in August when I saw that they were part of Sephora’s Weekly Wow sale. I knew absolutely nothing about these lipsticks at the point, but they were half price, and I thought, “A Bite Beauty product marked down by half? Heck yes, I am going to try this!” Since then, I’ve purchased 3 more of them whenever I saw them on sale. Buying four lipsticks from the same line is saying a lot about the quality of these, considering I usually only own two or three of any lipstick formula. I like to try a lot of new lip products but I don’t want to own 49,274,910 lipsticks, which means a lot of the time I can only buy one or two of from each line so I can try a bit of everything. However, these are too good to pass up!
THE BASICS
An innovative, liquified lipstick that takes liquid lip looks to the next level, with indulgently creamy wear, precise application, and high-pigment color with a satiny finish. Source: Sephora
The Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipsticks are a liquified version of their brand’s Amuse Bouche bullet lipsticks. According to the Sephora website, these are supposed to have the same nourishing formula as the bullet lipticks, with high-impact pigmentation, a creamy texture, and a satin finish. Like all of Bite Beauty’s products, these lipsticks are made from food-grade ingredients, and are free of parabens, phthalates and sulfates. The range comes in 19 shades from its regular line and 8 from their Unearthed Collection, which has more earthy tones inspired by root vegetables. These lipsticks can be purchased on the Sephora website or on the Bite Beauty website; they normally retail for $28 CAD, but they’ve been on sale at half price ($14) on Sephora Canada for quite a while now.
THE PACKAGING
The liquified lipsticks come in a rubberized grey packaging, which matches all of Bite Beauty’s Amuse Bouche bullet lipsticks. The tube is square, which I think looks so modern and chic. I also love the square packaging, particularly as a blogger, because it means I can take photos of them without using tape, and not having to worry it rolling around! The bottom of the tube is clear, so you can see which colour you’re selecting!
The applicator is a doefoot applicator, but the slanted edge is longer and more slanted than the usual doefoot applicators you find with lip products. It’s a small detail, but I found I really liked the shape of the slant because it could cover my entire lip in one swipe.
THE FORMULA
I’m always wary of liquid lipsticks, because I’m just not a fan of them. They make my lips look crepey and crusty (sorry for using that word), and suck the life out of my lips. However, don’t be confused by the name – these are not liquid lipsticks. They’re not transfer-proof, and they don’t dry down matte; these literally feel like Bite’s bullet Amuse Bouche lipsticks have been melted down and put in a tube.
I don’t find there to be a difference in performance between shades, so I’m just going to talk about the performance in general. These liquified lipsticks are very creamy and have exceptional pigmentation. They give full coverage in one swipe, and I don’t have to go back and apply more than one coat to build up the pigmentation. One thing to note is that the formula is on the thicker side. I personally don’t mind this, but it seemed that this was the main complaint about this lipstick in negative reviews. The thicker texture doesn’t make it gloppy or feel heavy on the lips, nor does it bleed on me. These feel very comfortable and hydrating!
Even though Bite Beauty says these have a satin or demi-glaze finish, I find that they have a glossy finish. It’s not quite to the point of a regular lip gloss, but it’s has a higher shine than what I would call “satin”. The glossiness does fade a little after a couple of minutes, but I would say that overall, these still have a shinier finish than the Amuse Bouche lipsticks. As I mentioned before, these are not long-wearing, so they will wear down like any bullet lipstick. They come off if you eat or drink, or they even start fading on its own after about half a day of wear. All of the colours faded pretty evenly on me, and didn’t cling to dry patches.
If you’re familiar with the way Bite Beauty’s lipsticks smell, these have the same scent. I love the way these smell; for some reason, it reminds me of Coca-Cola, but I think it’s just a fruity scent.
THE SHADES
As I mentioned above, the liquified lipsticks come in 27 shades, 8 of which are from its Unearthed line. The shades I own are Chai (mauve brown), Chutney (rich mauve), Jicama (muted rose terracotta), and Cassava (muted-cool berry red). Overall, this range has a great colour selection – many variations of brown-ish shades, brights (reds, oranges, fuchsias), and vampy shades. What I did find missing is more medium pinks and corals; although the new Bobbi Brown Crush Liquid lips only have fourteen shades, they have fewer of each different type of shade (eg only 2 berry shades instead of 5 like the Bite Beauty lipsticks), but overall, I feel like the Bobbi Brown covers a more expansive shade range, particularly when it comes to middle shades.
Below are the lip swatches of the shades I own. To be honest, I can’t tell the difference between Chai and Jicama in person – even in the swatches above, they look really similar. However, in the photos below, you can see that Jicama is a little darker and redder than Chai.
THE SUMMARY
Usually I do a pros and cons list here, but there are very few cons to this product. The only negative is the price, but as I already mentioned, these lipsticks have been on sale for half price on the Sephora Canada website since Christmas, which means it’s a great time to pick them up now. It’s been a long time since I’ve found a lipstick that I absolutely fell in love with, but these are absolutely stellar in formula and pigmentation. The Amuse Bouche liquified lipsticks get a big thumbs up from me!
These shades though! They are soo pretty! Chai is so beautiful 😍 Love your pictures x

I got a tiny version of Chutney and loved it so much I bought the full size (the tiny one now lives in my bag). I have Chai in the regular bullet lipstick and loooove it (I also have a mini that lives in my bag), so I want the liquid version. I also want Jicama.

Chutney’s a good one! I wonder if Chai is exactly the same shade in bullet and liquid form.

I just bought the shade Infuse (which was on sale, yay!) and didn’t get the chance to try it yet, so I’m super glad that I stumbled upon your post! I love the shades you got, they all look gorgeous on you!! Do they dry like a regular liquid lipstick or do they remain kinda glossy?

Infuse looks SUPER pretty, it’ll look gorgeous on you! They dry down a bit glossy – not as glossy as freshly applied, but it definitely has a bit of a sheen.

These sound amazing, but unfortunately I had a horrific reaction a few years ago to Bite’s Agave Lip Mask. So now I just stay away from the line all together just to be safe 😔.

Oh no, how disappointing! Makes complete sense,I would stay away from the whole brand if I had a bad reaction too!

It’s so sad, since they come out with a lot of great-looking products! Alas, there’s a lot of other products for me to try elsewhere 😊.

“I also love the square packaging, particularly as a blogger, because it means I can take photos of them without using tape, and not having to worry it rolling around!” – absolutely!! Although I get lazy in using tape so I usually just play around until it actually doesn’t roll lol
The shade Chai is so gorgeous!

Hahaha same! It would take me one minute to grab the tape and put it on round makeup products, but I would rather spend 5 minutes struggling with it without using tape, LOL.
Everybody seems to be loving Chai! Honestly, It’s a tie between that one and Jicama for my favourites.

I’ve never been keen on liquid lipsticks for some reason. They either are really dry, or too slippery for my liking. Nothing worse than a lip colour sliding around my lips and migrating onto my face… 😛 It sounds like these might be just the right formula to stay put well enough. I really like the shade Jicama. I had a peek on the Sephora site to confirm that they’re still $10-$14 (the only one that’s full priced is the Mauvember shade)… Do you think they’re being phased out? You got me curious but of course Jicama is out of stock but Chai is available.
By the way, I snagged the Week of Wow deal on the UD Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Foundation which I remember you liked a lot. But I also recall that it oxidizes like crazy so I went a shade lighter… fingers crossed it will work for me. At $25 it’s not too much of a risk!

From what I’ve noticed, anything that’s been on sale for this long has always been phased out, but I don’t know for sure about these ones. Interesting, I’ve actually never used a slippery liquid lipstick before! They always dry the heck out of my lips.
Oh, I hope the shade works for you and that you like the formula! Let me know how it goes. I was going to pick up a different foundation during the VIB sale to try out, but ended up getting another bottle of the UD Naked Skin during the sale, too…it’s such a steal!

I was so close to buying Chutney on Boxing Day and I convinced myself I didn’t need it and put it back….you’ve convinced me otherwise 😉 These sound awesome! Cassava is a such a beautiful rich shade!

Oooh dang, too bad you didn’t get one! Chutney was my first one, it’s so, so beautiful!

This is actually the only Bite Beauty product I like! For whatever reason, the bullet lipsticks irritate and dry out my lips, and just feel thick. It’s almost as if there isn’t enough slip to them, for my personal tastes at least. But I really did like my mini I got of Chutney in this formula! I haven’t worn it in a long time, and maybe I don’t even own it anymore, but I do think this formula would be pretty comparable to the Bobbi Brown Crushed Liquid Lips. I think these possibly have more shine to them. And maybe feel less balm-like, more gloss-like?

Yes, these have a lot more shine to them compared to the Bobbi Brown Crushed Liquid Lipsticks! The BB liquid lips have a thinner, less slippery formula.
